Figured it was time to formally introduce myself here. My name's David, from Virginia, work at a Toyota dealership here in town. I bought a Black on Black 07 CTS-V with 30k miles on it back in September. I told myself that I could never buy another GM product again, and that I would never buy another black vehicle again...obviously I did both of those in one sitting lol, but I couldn't turn it down and I'm happy with my purchase.

Been doing a lot of reading (lurking) for the past few months, got some great ideas from some of the members here. On a side note --- it's kinda hard to get your post count up here considering almost every question has been answered lol.

I wanted to first say thanks to those members that PM'd me MIGHTYMOUSE's email address; considering I wasn't able to send him a PM about his spacers. And while we're on that topic, my car is getting lowered today (Thanks again David:blurock:!!!).

Besides it getting lowered today, the only other things I've done to it so far have been a K&N CAI, 35% tint all around, LED tails, tinted the tails and had the reverse lights blacked out-->

I was planning on either throwing a S/C on it or getting a nice set of wheels, but 2 of my dogs have needed surgery within the past 60 days; which cost me close to 5k:mad2:...so for the time being, I have to put those mods on hold until I can save up some more money.

A little background on vehicles --- bought a brand new 2006 Toyota X-Runner a few years back, then modded the hell out of it (paint, wheels, supercharger, etc..); basically till I couldn't do anything more to it. This vehicle kind of introduced me to the whole 'automotive forum' experience. Met some great people online, and especially from going to meets. It was something I never did before. I'm actually still on the staff (admin) on the X-Runner forum (screen name is 2006nightrider) even though I don't have my truck anymore haha. Here was my baby-->

After I parted it out and traded the truck in last year, I purchased a 2007 Subaru WRX. Once again, I had to mod it:D. I loved the car, especially the AWD, but I kept getting pulled over, so about 5 months later I traded it in -->

...Then I bought a 2006 Infiniti G35X. Only thing I did to it was I lowered it an inch all the way around, tinted it, and threw some 20" wheels on it-->

Got bored of that car REALLY quick!!!! So after just a couple months, I traded that in, to buy the CTS-V.

Sorry for the long read:yawn: lol

Welcome!

What part of VA are you in?

I know it's short notice, but there's a GM Performance Division meet in Ashland, VA this Saturday. I plan on heading down and I think a few other V's as well. Be cool if you could make it down!

Thanks man.

I work in Fredericksburg, but live in Ruther Glen (just north of Ashland and where MIGHTYMOUSE lives).

Only thing is, that I have to work Saturdays:annoyed:...so if I was able to meet up with you guys, it wouldn't be till I got off; which won't be till around 7-8pm.

Gotcha, I'm about an hour and a half north of you. Take the exit for rt.207 toward Ft. AP Hill (right past Kings Dominion) and follow that into MD.

I'm not sure how long everyone else is staying, but I'm going to be heading out by 4pm at the latest

Ah ok...I'd love to meet up with you guys!!! It's just hard working in the car business, because I almost never get weekends off :(.

Here's a pic from one of the X-Runner meets that we put together...had a great time! It's nice to actually match the faces to the screen names:

Welcome!

You need a shifter and a CAGS eliminator.

Yea I know. A short shifter is usually one of the first mods I do to my vehicles. My X-Runner was like driving a damn semi truck before I swapped it out lol. The Caddy stock shifter isn't great by any means, but it's still better then some other stock shifters that I've dealt with. From what I've read here, it looks like a lot of people go with the UUC shifter...so I think I might go that route.

CAGS...? Is that the mod that keeps the ECU from blocking you from putting it into 2nd gear? I searched on eBay and found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cadillac-Skip-Shift-Skip-Shift-Eliminator-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3f07649b40QQitemZ27070 6973504QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries

Not sure if that's what I need or not...?

I put the UUC in my car recently and I'm very happy with it. It's a huge improvement over stock, and I don't know how I was driving around with the stock shifter for as long as I was (alright, maybe it wasn't actually that long). It's not perfect, but it's probably about as good as it gets with the V.

I thought about buying a G37 while I was shopping for V's. I started to get agitated not being able to find the V I wanted and sat in a few G37's. I had driven a G35x before and remember it being pretty nice. But, I got bored of the G37 just sitting in it at the dealer. Granted the interior looks a bit nicer than what you get in the V (at least on the new G's) but it just doesn't feel as good overall. Plus that VQ engine just doesn't make the same awesome sound you get out of an LS. :)

My thoughts exactly. The G35X was just to heavy for the measly 280hp that came with it, plus it was an automatic and AWD...which made my drive to work extremely boring!!! The inside of it was nice, and I did like having bluetooth...but the thrill of driving the V takes the cake!

On a side note, I'm getting ready to leave work and pick up my car. I'm soooo happy it's finally lowered:bouncy:
