: Take a look at your license plate lamps

I noticed this on Thursday night. This is only the right side lamp however if you inspect the housing on each side you will notice the assembly/installation to be very chintzy. I do not EVER slam my trunk or my doors. (passengers are punished to the fullest extent of the law). Could be another issue to add to the list albeit minor.

It looks like it just popped out. Did you trying snapping it back in?

I pulled it out somewhat so you can see how easy it comes out. Yes I can push it back in but it is very loose and moves around quite easily and eventually pops back out on the right hand side of the lamp. I was able to put it back into place and then easily remove it from its place with my hands, little effort and no tools. I would hope this is not "normal" and just my light. Possibly a tab broke but I don't know how. Just thought I would show it.

Mike just compare it to the other side and see if the tabs are the same. Did you remove them and change the bulbs? My lamp covers seem fine, although they have never been opened, so that may be why they are secure.

Is there a good way to get those out without breaking the tabs to change lights?

yeah i have the same issue. When I removed mine the driver side tab broke. I have yet to replace it since they are 60 bucks for that piece of plastic. Just irritating. IMO.

I did the LED upgrade as well and have not had any issues. You have to be extremely careful when removing the assembly.

Broke mine while doing the LED upgrade. It fell apart in my hand. Seemed to be heat checked, but the dealer hooked me up with a new one.

thanks guys, looks like they break easy from the sound of it. I just haven't done anything to them (change to LED's) so I thought it was weird. see if I can get the dealer to hook me up...60 bux to replace generic crap just to break again...

afaik you're not supposed to pop those out from the outside (although everyone seems to do it and many people don't have any problems) but the 'correct' way is to remove the panel and get at them from the backside ...

just fyi

I looked at my license plate light covers and there is no problem. I always go to the grocery store with my wife. She frequently closes the trunk lid while I take the cart to the drop off point. I have never warned her about closing the lid softly (the automatic pull-down is gone from these cars), and I have never worried about it myself.

Cars are becoming too delicate these days. You cannot even breathe on the obsidian center stack without it scratching, the bulb housings crack, the pleather scratches too easily. Cheap junk to make a profit.
