: When will the 2010 SRX get MyLink?

I just downloaded MyLink to my Android phone for my 2010 Escalade EXT. When I tried switching vehicles to my 2010 SRX nothing happened. Unless I missed something I'm assuming the 2010 SRX does not have MyLink capability yet. Anyone have any info on when that might occur?

BTW- It's a pretty slick app. It just takes some time for the remote features to connect to the vehicle.

Probably about the same time the SRX gets the suspension fixed and the gas tank fixed :)

Hi, how did you get this app to work on a 2010 Vehicle? I downloaded to my Droid phone and it says my Vehicle is not supported? I thought this app only works with 2011 vehicles?

That "simple search" is regarding 2011 SRX's. My question is with respect to MyLink in 2010 SRX's genius.

It worked on my 2010 Escalade but not on my 2010 SRX.

It will not work on the 2010 SRX, just the 2011.
The On-Star hardware is not the same between the two...

Only 2011 SRX's and later support MyLink. There are no plans to update the 2010, as it is an updated OnStar module (i.e. hardware/software).

I don't usually get mad, but I am downright pissed off about this.

Yesterday, GM made the announcement that they have finished testing 2010 vehicles and the SRX will NOT get mylink.

So let me get this straight. I paid $42K for a 2010 Cadillac SRX, supposedly GMs flagship brand, and got outdated legacy hardware? Ironically, at the same time, the 2010 Chevy Traverse was being outfited with Generation 9 Onstar hardware, and as such has the features that this app offers.

Seriously GM?

You really outfitted you flagship vehicles with hardware YOU KNEW was outdated? You knew that it was going to lack functionality. You knew that the newer hardware was being installed in a same MY vehicle that costs half as much?

Then, to add insult to injury... Onstar states that they can get some of the features to work on the outdated Onstar systems we all have in our 2010, they just aren't going to. It would probably cost them more money to continue to develop backward compatibility where possible, so they said "screw it" (Screw us).

THIS is why GM went bankrupt. This Cadillac SRX was my first GM product. Unfortunately it will also be my last. I refuse to be forgotten after the sale. I consider this almost a bait and switch, sticking a Cadillac logo on a car that is outdated from the minute it rolled off the assembly line.

Cadillacs shouldn't be outdated faster than cell phones.

Is there some way we can all write or call and voice a complaint about this?

Here is the official reply I got from Onstar. I am a little disappointed that while they can offer support for the 2010 SRX they wont since they cannot offer all the features of the Onstar 9.0 cars. So instead of offering some support for our vehicles they will offer no support. Personally I would rather have some support and would understand why they cannot offer the full support.

I suggest that folks put the pressure on Onstar to offer whatever functionality they can and let us deiced if we want to use it or not.

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail OnStar.

There are a few select MY10 vehicles for which we could enable the full mobile app experience. Based on the hardware of some of the other 2010 and older vehicles, the app would only be able to perform limited functions. Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for users so we feel that putting out an app with anything less than full functionality would be a disservice to our customers. Unfortunately, the list of eligible MY 2010 vehicles is now complete and there are no plans to make MY 2009 vehicles mobile app capable in the foreseeable future.

Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any other questions, call us at 1.888.4.ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827) or press your blue button.

Sincerely,

Serena

OK. I did my part and sent OnStar an email. Here is the content:
----------------------------------------------------------------

I am not at all happy to hear that the 2010 Cadillac SRX will not be getting the MyLink Mobile App. I do not care that all of the functionality available for the 2011 model would not be available in the 2010. Something is better than nothing--even if its only the ability to unlock the car via the phone.

I will be keeping this in mind should I ever own another vehicle with OnStar as an option. Forsaking paying customers is not a good business practice.

Here is their response:

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail OnStar.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologize thank you for taking the time and effort to bring your concerns to our attention.

Each vehicle not eligible for the OnStar MyLink mobile app has unique engineering limitations that prohibit this technology from functioning properly.

Based on the hardware of some of the other 2010 and older vehicles, the app would only be able to perform limited functions. Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for users so we feel that putting out an app with anything less than full functionality would be a disservice to our customers.

We regret that OnStar was unable to meet your expectations and sincerely hope that you will continue to use your OnStar system so that we can regain your confidence.

Should you have additional questions or concerns, please call Customer Care at 1-888-4ONSTAR (1-888-466-7827) between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm EST.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Anything that can be done over the phone, could be done via a cell phone app. All they have to do is connect to their in-house app remotely and send the same command that would sent when an operator activates the command at OnStar. They just don't want to invest in the manpower necessary to make this happen. I would have to have a better technical explanation from OnStar before I accept their response of "limited" features.

Steve , I sent one out too. I have a 2011 Yukon Denali also, now and I love the MYLINK app. Very frustrating that a luxo-sled can't do it, while a 2010 Traverse can, but I don't see them changing soon.

I hate to admit it fellas, but change, and fast change aren't exactly the General's strong points...
