Hi folks,

My 98 Catera, has a new problem. When I drive the car around and come to quick stop (like slam the brakes at the traffic light or something similar). I can feel the transmission downshifting after a complete stop. Is that normal or could it be that fluid might be low?

Anyways...my wife is due today with our second baby, so got to go.

Thanks.

Thanks, we are back home. Well, the idle does not change after the instant stop, but I can still feel the downshift. Again, this only happens when I have to a sudden stop, like slamming the brakes. I'm thinking the fluid might be low, but have to check and see.

I went ahead and changed the fluid and filter yesterday, the fluid looked pretty dark too. Test drove the car to work this morninf and I feel the transmission shifts are much smoother. I haven't tried the quick stop to see if the transmission down shifts after a complete stop. Will post more updates later.

Thanks.
