Ok when the car is in P and idle, there is a light white smoke coming from the exhaust. Also some water maybe, is coming out of the pipe. What could this be? I do not think there is coolant in anything, but the level is all the way down, but thats from a radiator leak. I also get about 12 mpg, if that helps any. I would like to get a tune-up soon, but dont have the cash. Can anyone help with my smoke problem? :worship:

That happens at startup when the engine's not warm or from cold or humid weather. As long as there's no water in the oil you should be ok.

White smoke and rough idle/running is common to blown head gaskets. If there is a leak in the cooling system you need to fix it ASAP. In my experience blown head gaskets usualy come shortly after cooling system failures and the engine overheating as a result.
Once you've repaired the cooling system you should have the coolant tested for exhuast by-products, that will tell you if your heads need new gaskets. If the gaskets are blown your enginge will run rougher as the leak increases. You will also notice that the engine overheats constantly with blown head gaskets. Head warpage is a possibility with aluminum heads.
As for as I know, if the gaskets begin a gradual leak (as opposed to a cracked head and major leakage/very rough running) the pressure of the combustion will force exaust into the water jackets, thus the test sugested above.
If you are mechanicaly inclined you should be able to tune the car yourself. New plugs, cap and rotor, maybe plug wires if they are old, new fuel filter, air filter, fuel additive for injectors, these items shouldn't be more than $50 - $75. It's also a good idea to use a good carburator cleaner on the throtle bdoy. These parts, a few hours and a couple of swear words and youv'e got a decent shade tree tune up.
I hope it is not serious, good luck with it.

it doesnt run rough, its just a light white smoke, it might have been from being on E. but i am still wondering abou the 12 miles to the gallon.

ok i just checked and the white smoke is nonexistant after about 10 seconds after start up. but the part i hate the most is on the fuel computer it says i have a full tank(which i know is true), it says i get 11-12 mpg, BUT it says i have a range of 81 miles. now i can do my math and 12x20 is 240 miles, which is still bad but alot better than 81. :hmm: so A. why am i getting so low of mpg, and B. why cant it calculate the right range?

12 mpg, is that around town driving? If so, it may be a little lower than normal, I probably get around 14+ mpg around town (stop & go driving). If that mileage includes highway driving then your baby is due for some help. The tune up should improve performance and mileage, but if there is something else that is causing the smoke and poor mileage then the tune up, while still a good idea, obviously won't solve your problem.
Get that cooling system in good shape 1st! That and frequent oil/filter changes are probably the two best ways to minimize engine wear.
If you get those two items done and you still have problems with white smoke, check back here, I've seen other strings on smoke issues that may help you solve your problem. I know there are a lot of guys and gals here that are more than willing to share their ideas in an effort to help.
Peace,
