Ok, the specific answer I am looking for is... can I have a head gasket problem and a perceived excess steam out the back on cool days, even after warm up... and not have water in my oil or going into my cylinders? Can it go from the water jacket to the exhaust... probably not.

My STS is loosing water (nothing visible) at a rate of about 1 quart per 100 miles.

I did throw a number one cylinder misfire code once (at idle at the exact time I was having it smogged! Can u beleive it).

Just need ideas, I guess. I was told the #1 cylinder is popular for head gaskets.

This is the wrong forum, but yes the Northstar will burn coolant without it getting into the oil. Read up on it in the Seville and Northstar forums.
