Cavender gave me incorrect service department hours (3 pm when it's actually 2 pm), so when I arrived in town at 2 I thought the trip was a waste.

But I called Ken Batchelor and made my way over... It is so.plush in this place. If you've been to Vegas... it feels like Ceasar's Palace or the Venetian.

So anyway, I'm waiting on the V's catalytic converters to get looked at. Finally take care of the check engine light.

Got a firsthand look inside a new V, and got a contact for my near-future V Coupe.

They offered to let me drive the new V, but I respect it too much to drive when I know I'm not ready to take one home.

With Quizno's and Panda Express next door, it's easy spending time here. I would bring a lady friend along on a trip to the service department. I'll have to bring one when I come back to pick up my V Coupe.

Impressed impressed impressed with Ken Batchelor Cadillac.

...even the restroom...

World Class, this is what we should expect as Cadillac Owners.

Sometimes I drive through their lot just because its so nice and inviting. I definitely plan to take the Escalade there when it needs servicing. They are the closest to me as well.

Not really surprised its as nice as it is though, they are owned by Sewell in dallas now and that's a world class group of dealerships.

I have other trouble codes to clear before they can take care of the cats under warranty. So there was a $99.95 diagnosis fee which i'm completely ok with. It was thorough and informative. Very worthwhile.

I even got a bunch of throttle response back. (I forgot to reconnect the MAF after an air filter change and drove with it disconnected for maybe five miles, so I think that was a code that just needed to be cleared. Oops.)

I picked up my V 10k miles ago, and haven't put any time into the maintenance, other than an oil change. I'm thinking for that price, a periodic check out of warranty is a good idea.

The service rep found me a couple times to keep me informed. I have some work to do, but when I come back I get a loaner vehicle! :-)

Great great dealership. And everyone is so friendly. It's an experience.

I'm on the hunt now, for a code tool and some cruise control troubleshooting, possibly an O2 sensor. There's an auto shop with lifts on post, so it's time to put my mechanic hat back on.

Man I'm jealous. My dealer(Tremonte Auto Group) is a dive.At least they are more responsive to my concerns than the flashy dealer in Shelton(CT) Mario Daddario Caddy/GMC

I was wondering when they'd grab something in Houston. Which one did they get?

Too bad their service isn't as nice as their dealership. They JACKED up our 2010 SRX. State Farm is now fighting with Ken Batchelor to get over $15,000 back. Check out the pics of our SRX after they "fully repaired" it. I took pics because I couldn't believe they would give a vehicle in this condition to a customer. The pics of Oct 20 is how they gave us back our car. Because of this, I will never buy a vehicle from a Sewell dealership. http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n6/whisler151/2010%20SRX%20Photos/

tomorrow's goal is to get to the clutch switch (related to the cruise control) and maybe get it apart and working. i'm hoping it's just copper contacts.

also put out some feelers for a scan tool, O2 sensors and... oh yeah, put my stock airbox back in, and get rid of the Autozone special I put in as a joke. ooops.

whisler, you're saying they crashed your SRX in a field?

With few exceptions, I find that dealership body shops just churn out cars and don't work to a terribly high standard. If I'm going to have a wrecked luxury vehicle repaired, I will *always* look for the highest rated, most high end body shop in the area (after all, the insurance company is footing the bill right?), like Gene Perez in Tampa.

Also, you didn't make clear WHICH Sewell body shop screwed up your car, but based on your location I'm guessing it's the Dallas location. No telling if the San Antonio location mentioned here is just as bad, or substantially better.

the offices remind me of Magneto's holding cell in X-Men 2... hah

Ok I see what's going on in the pics, whisler... but wouldn't that be on your claims adjuster? repair shops are only authorized to make certain repairs. Are you sure that wasn't State Farm's call?

Definitely a beautiful dealership. Hoping their service department is just as nice.

Pretty dealerships are nice, but I'd rather sit on a splintery wooden bench, in a dark hallway with a bare light bulb if I could be guaranteed that my car would be fixed quickly, and correctly the first time around. I've been screwed by enough dealership service departments in my life that I'm skeptical of every one I've ever been to.

I feel ya. having been an ASE certified mechanic myself, I know what a runaround would be. and Ken Batchelor didn't try to give me one. They were straightforward and when it comes to mechanical problems and making a profit while employing professional mechanics, it felt fair.

Blinker fluid is one of the first questions on the test.

Q: a customer reports a screeching noise under the hood. They took it upon themselves to troubleshoot the problem with a hammer, vice grips, and a flat head screwdriver. Technician A says it is the timing belt and estimates 10 hours of labor. Technician B says 'let's take it for a joyride'. Who is correct?

A:Both technicians are correct. You take it for a joyride, THEN you fix the timing belt.

They bought McGinnis' location at I-10 and Dairy Ashford...going to tear it down and build something like they have in SA hopefully, it's supposed to be amazing.

My car is there now getting some warranty work done.

Twas a demo I got in Nov '09. Not as good a deal as I wanted, but it was still good and a no brainer w/ 0% financing...

Sad.

The explosion of mobile technology will curb this behavior. Everything you want to know can be recorded and transmitted back to you live. And no, I'm not talking about an obd2 plugin..

If you're really old school (i.e if you know what a 2400 baud modem is) you can just rig a battery powered webcam and monitor it that way.

Nothing says 'uh oh' like video!

it's a joke. but since it does happen, i'm not interested in having evidence--i want to prevent it from happening in the first place.

i'll be sleeping in the trunk. wake me up so i can take my place in the passenger seat.

so uh... yesterday, someone from Ken Batchelor called to say there's a market for V's and they're interested in buying mine. ...but I already have an arrangement that will leave me free and clear of my loan; I will have basically driven a CTS-V for 15,000 miles for $2,400...
