Hi, I read all the talk of HG failure, so I was wondering who has a Northstar V-8 with 100,000K+ that has NOT had any HG problems.

►My 1998 Cadillac ETC has approx. 112,000K and no HG problems yet.

What tests have been done to confirm there's no HG problem?

Sold my '97 with 107K and no HG problems to a neighbor about 5 yrs ago. Don't know what the mileage is now, but he has not had a problem yet.

I think JimD is over 200K with no HG problems.

I think I understand what the OP is trying to accomplish here but the problem is that this thread will remain on the site perpetually. Let's say that I post today that at 108k miles I have not had a HG issue. Next week it happens to me and I post in the HG failure thread - you can't logically be in both places.

maybe should have a poll here that you can change your vote on so for now poll as never had problem then
after that switch to the i had a problem poll perhaps

'97 STS parked near a redwood tree located in Sequoia National Park California (alt. 7500 feet) or about 3500 miles away from the home town (Toronto).

This is instant death I feel so I will walk softly here.:suspense: I had a new pan installed in 2002 at 76,000 because I had to go over a small hill at fuel shut off and landed and broke it, thats all that has been done at 175,000 on the engine side other then maintance. Now it does have a good oil leak at the lower engine half and a rear main. I plan on mid to late spring to pull it and repair the oil leak and will be doing Jakes studs since its out and any other worn parts I find..I belive I will be doing lifters and cams also as I get intermidtent valve noises...

I just changed my trans and a lot of other stuff on my 1993 Seville STS last month, but the head gaskets have never been replaced. Last owner did not take good care of the car, but now i'm making it all better. Right now it has 223 xxx km on it and i'm confident it will do 300 000 easily. It's a EURO version and came to me from Germany. Now in Estonia if you know where Estonia is. And i luv it!

No HG problems yet thankfully, 130k miles on my 95 4.0. Coolant changed every 2 years its whole life. Just about everything else possible has been broken on the car at some point though.

Ok, not quite a week later but 5 days after my post still no HG issue. I guess what you should get from this is reported mileage.

Well like Pup said anytime I start to brag or thumb my nose at something it usally kicks my A$$. I am in no way bragging but I do feel its not if but more a matter of when you will need to do this...also I will be doing mine very soon because if i take it out to fix oil leaks whats another day to make sure this wont happen and know i good for another 175000 pl;us " I HOPE"
I hope everyone thats not had issues w/HG continues...

Good Luck to all
