I made a mount that attaches to the head rest. I can send post pics if you want. It puts my GoPro right off my shoulder to give a good look at what I'm doing and a good view of the track. Most of the time I can see the guages.

I've seen video that only shows the exterior and it seems boring to me.

Don't forget to mount a mic by the tailpipe!

I just got a GoPro also - how do you link a remote mic to the camera?

I've mounted it to the lower grill a couple times and I agree with the posts above - exterior only is kinda boring.

Thanks!

I don't believe you can attach a external mount....btw...can you post the videos that you have taken from where you've mounted it? I'm trying to feel out my option....thanks...

I'm catching a plane to Vegas in an hour but will post my mount pics when I get back. Check back on the 14th.
I see a lot of people mounting externally with the suction cup. I don't trust it. One thing I don't like about the goPro is no remote mic input. With the windows down, all you get is wind noise normally. However, with the Maggie, there's good feedback!

These things have become standard equipment at the track for a lot of people. They're very commonly mounted with the suction cup in the motorsports kit just about anywhere on a smooth surface. Hood, roof, trunk, doors, windows, whatever. It's very rare for one to come off. It does happen, but not often.

Here are a few examples from personal experience. I've had it inside and outside on my Focus:

On on a buddy's helmet (on the side) riding in my Focus, plus on the roof:

Took the passenger seat out at Miller for nationals and that cleared the view enough that I stuck it on the inside of the back window:

The helmet mounts work nicely, too. This is on my helmet for an indoor kart race:

They're great for this sort of thing, and since they don't weigh much of anything you don't really notice them on your helmet. Once in a great while one does come off, though:

^What NASA class were you running in?

The Focus was in TTF (I've since sold it).

Are you going to be running TT in your V? If so, curious about how you're going to set it up. I'm signed up for TTB for next weekend.

what did you have for suspension on the focus?

Maybe someday, but not for a while yet. It's still too nice to go on the track and it's my DD.

what did you have for suspension on the focus?

It was mostly a stock SVT Focus. In the first vid it was on Nitto NT-01s, in the second vid it was on Hoosier R6s. It had Carbotech brake pads on it, but other than that the only mods were a warm-air intake that was on it when I bought it, and a Centerforce clutch with a light flywheel. I put a factory replacement rear subframe in it to get some more camber in the back (since the delivery units didn't have camber adjustment). The stock SVT Focus suspension is surprisingly well balanced, so I spent all my classing points on tires. The springs are still a little soft to be setting any track records, but for a stock setup it was pretty impressive.

I picked mine up for $229 delivered....could have found one cheaper....but not all companies ship to an APO...

Here are the pics of the mount. Mounting on the passenger seat gives the best angle (vs driver's seat) but if no one is in the seat, it'll bounce unless you strap it back. Otherwise, mounting on the driver's seat isn't bad. I need to find something to down-convert my HD video and clip it for posting. Any suggestions?

I am pretty sure youtube will allow you to upload HD videos. i am sure it will take a while though. If not, real player will convert most formats. And there are any number of other freeware converters out there.

They do. HD becomes a selectable resolution

I think youtube only allows up to 10 min of hd video.

That's a pretty slick set-up...thanks for posting....
