Anyone know if there is a planned V-Day for 2011 @ Summit Point? I have retired my V from track duty but I will take it out for V-Day if there is one.

Luke has said there will be an event this year...

seems like a great idea, but, IIRC, it was priced on the high side for a 1-day event, especially at Slummit. maybe more sponsorship is needed.

Damnation, I'm going to another one of these before I croak, so help me!

Just got to get "permission" if you know what I mean. :suspense:

Well then go git-er that SRX. Maybe she'll jump on the Caddy band wagon :yup:

If I go, I'm hoping for a late summer date. I keep buying tires based around track days. And it's getting expensive.

Just remembered: There might be something in the works early this season (not V-Day) that also sounds like fun. Maybe Luke will jump in with his thoughts.

"Early this season?" "Not V-Day?" Hm-m ...

Tony, I see you turned the big four-oh. Happy birthday!

I'm ready for a VDay...plus I'd also like to get something together for a track day up at Monticello using their V's

TBJ is wise....there will be at least one event this year. date will probably be around the same time as usual (late June). will have a official announcement next week

maybe any sponsorship is needed (got to have some before you can have more). the reg. fee is completely dedicated to track rental and food. last V-day I had to come out of pocket on the difference...

I don't remember exactly what we paid - was it $250? I just signed up to run a PDX with the DC Region SCCA on Summit Main next week - $275 for Saturday, $150 for Sunday, $375 both days. I would say I typically pay $350-400 for a 2-day event. 2-day events are always cheaper per day than a 1-day event, and the other events I've attended typically have 2-3 times as many participants, which obviously helps with the costs.

What about Cadillac Brand as a Sponsor?
Now that the motor sports division is open, I don't see why they wouldn't sponsor.

Going to GM's motorsports group would be a great idea. Here we are, a bunch of GM enthusiasts, promoting GM products on our nickels ... I'm just sayin'.

Aflac would be a fitting sponsor... which begs the question, can you buy supplemental track insurance?

Should one have prior track time under their belt before tackling Summit? I'm not claiming to be some great driver which means I'll sit and take pictures before I embarrass myself lol..

... Should one have prior track time under their belt before tackling Summit? ...I didn't at V-Day I. Started out wet, and when one guy kissed the concrete, I sure wish I had. As it was, I was, shall we say, very cautious after that.

Yeah, whenever you deal with rain, you need to take it easy. But Summit Point Main is much easier to deal with, and more forgiving, in the rain over Shenandoah. And in general...

Mike we can use their V's if we just do their 1 day program, its around a grand for the day with lunch/classroom time. I'd rather do it with fellow V guys instead of strangers. I can probably work out a deal if enough get interested.

BTW - I'm Joey G's friend, he mentions you all the time

We need somebody as cool as Luke to set something up further west... ;)
It was pretty cool having 3 Vs at the track one time last summer. I can only imagine a whole fleet. That'd be awesome.

Could be. I dunno if I could drop a grand. I'd be willing to instruct :)

If you ever plan to come out to a NASA NE event with Joey G and I let me know and I'll bring the V. We used it as our official pace car last season! This year I'll be rocking my STi for the most part. The V will come out for V-Day and if some V guys from here come to some NASA NE events.

-mike

PS: Joey G rocks!

Yes, without a doubt. I joined NASA NE late last year but I plan on bringing the V out to some events. Just waiting for April/May to roll around

Just got back an hour or so ago from running a PDX at Summit Point Main with the DC Region SCCA. Video processing in progress - I'll start a new thread for that once I've got some clips captured. I was 3-4sec per lap faster than at VDay4 based on the video. :D

I got a few quick clips myself that I can post up! Just 6 or 7 second fly-bys from where we were watching.

It was nice to finally put a face with a name! The V looks great on those Team Dynamics wheels. Are you rubbing at all with 275's? And John said you are running KW coilovers; how do you like them?

By the way, it looks like V-Day 5 is slated for June 24th at Summit:
