I like all the interior cosmetics, with the exception, perhaps, "that chubby Asian!"

I really do like the DTS, that's exactly my kind of car--EXCEPT for that damn 20 year old drivetrain :crying: Fine for what it is, of course, but as discussed at length in another thread left to wither on the vine way too long.

well the N* did get VVT upgrade ... and headbolt upgrade too ... old drivetrain is tested and all the problems are known... look at the problems giving the guys with the 3.6L engines headaches

The Platinum is the only one where I'd overlook that.

Very nice! Is this the modern day version of the 1974-76 Fleetwood Talisman? They were both made for short runs, and had all of the coolest luxury features in the biggest model available.

No VVT on the FWD applications. If it did I'd be all over that car. They only solved the cold-start knock and headbolt issues on those models.

That's true, it's a reliable drivetrain with the bugs worked out. But if I'm going to upgrade from my current car I want something better and newer. More power, more efficiency. That's actually the aspect that killed my love for the STS. They have more power and 6 gears, but highway mpg dropped down to like 24 mpg. I'm getting 27-29 in my old 2000.

Yea VVT is RWD only, those are rated for 320hp minimum.

The things that are Platinum exclusive are all cosmetic, but those details are what makes the difference.

Is that real "stitching" on the dashcover or is it "simulated" stitching (molded into the vinyl/ploastic? It appears to me that it is not real stitching but rather molded to look like real stitching. My '95 Seville STS has stitching molded into the vinyl of the door panels, which struck as rather "tacky" when I got the car. Why not just leave it seamless rahter than fake?

It's real stitching, I felt it at the Platinum at the auto show.

It's real, and the dash and door panels are leather.

Man that interior is class, wish all the DTS's were equipped as so. I like that black leather a lot more than the almost white colored neutral leather with off white rugs that they also offer.

Did they ever sell a STS platnium edition? I know the STS-V has a different and nicer interior than the base car.

Yes, there is an STS Platinum now. Even though I'd probably choose an STS-V over the DTS Platinum, the STS-V interior is frankly a JOKE by comparison. No where near the level of detail of the DTS-Plat.
