... i went to the dealership today (Courtesy Chevrolet/ Cadillac) and asked them how much they charged to put soft tops on. the guy told me that they didnt do that. he said i would have to take it to an upholstery shop. i was sure i read on here that dealerships do this? anyone here ever have a soft top put on at a dealership? this wouldnt be a problem except for the fact that the only upholstery shop that deals with cars doesnt do soft tops just interior. could i have the vinyl top painted instead?

Are you talking about padded tops?

Dealerships, as a rule, usually sublet these mods to an interior shop. Cadillac does not officially recognize these modificatons, and does not warranty any damage done by improper installation, so pick a good shop! Good Luck!
