Id say i think it was the suicide doors on the 94 Lebaron Convertible back in 96 lol

Extreme customization? Didn't get too extreme for me. Here's the most I've done on my own stuff:

1992 Ford Escort:

Summit racing stickers EVERYWHERE +20HP
dash mounted Sunpro tach +15HP
empty coffee can tack welded to tailpipe - INSTAFAST
black racing stripes - MOAR HP
Rear springs were broken when I purchased it. Took some out of an available Tracer wagon, which (unintensionally) slightly raised the ride height in the rear for that awesome dragster look.

Window tinting, when I was in the Sunshine State.
There is absolutely no customization or modification to my current car, STS. Customization is not my cup of tea!

Two Saab Club of North America window stickers. They allow me to take off like a Viggen fighter jet.

Stingroo
02-15-11, 08:39 PM
As for me...

Car club decals on the side windows add +10hp each.
A wagon decal on my rear window makes +20
A decal for my college campus, however, subtracts 15.

But none of that matters, because my hood is a chalkboard, and I can draw as much horsepower as I want on it. :)

In the realm of legitimate customization though...

My windows are tinted quite dark (Tint Nazi's go away. There's a lot of sun in Florida, dammit.)
Aftermarket stereo and all new speakers (speakers were bought Saturday. :) )
Smoothie hubcaps are on their way.
I have a center console waiting to go in, all I need is a passenger seat skin that matches my current color and pattern...
I just bought a new steering wheel for it because I hate my current one (No, it's not some ricer GT wheel. I'm not lame like that)
Previous owner had the exhaust done so I can't take credit for that, but I may re-do it in the future.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I have my "Who Is John Galt" sticker on the back of my Astro, along with a "BG" sticker on each side window.

On the Regal, I've got an "Apple" sticker on the right rear windshield, and on the left side of the rear windshield, I've got an "Atlas Shrugged" sticker.

Current car holds the title with a relatively short list of cosmetic stuff:

-M3 aluminum dead pedal
-BMW Performance Alcantara shift knob + boot
-Black chrome M3 edition kidneys
-Painted black lower mesh grilles
-CCA sticker

Looking to buy a new exhaust system around next month, after that I have a lot more planned (front aero lip, M3 decklid spoiler, M sport wheel, oil cooler, upgraded radiator, upgraded intercooler, catless downpipes, oil catch can, LSD... :bonkers:).

I plan on keeping this car for at least three more years, so for now I'll modify it as I see fit. After that, an M3 may be in the cards.

I would argue that for the current generation, the 335 is a better all-around car than the M3.

The people I know who went from 335i to M3 don't really have any regrets, it's a whole different kind of beast. The low end torque of the N54 is really hard to beat, but where it loses steam in the upper rev band is where the M3 picks up (plus that 8400rpm redline =)

No tint shop or neon lights from some aftermarket toy store comes even remotely close.

None of my rides have been customized on the exterior. I've never really seen exterior mods that pleased me. Mechanical stuff is different. The '76 Thunderbird with the factory 460 4bbl and factory duals (still has the ford part #'s on the pipes) has a crane cam, edlebrock manifold, msd ignition, and barry grant carburetor.
The 71 Thunderbird with factory 429 power has a holley street performer carb instead of the autolite monster as does the 390 powered 67 Thunderbird.

The 75 hearse has a holley street performance carb replacing the Q-jet and ditto for the 76 hearse. Both are getting MSD ignitions soon.

yup thats right
i have been told im a nut case for doing it i have had some tell me that its dumb
have had some say i guess that could be cool
have had some say whats the point
and lots of others say lots of other things
but when it comes down to it personaly it comes down to what you want and do you want it or not

this spring and and summer 3 things on my list is to have the hood sand blasted and repainted have the car goen over and shined up a bit in areas that might need to be

thinking of a new set of 20s maybe the Velocity 815s i like sold my Helo's

and the lambo doors

those would be top 3 things i plan on doing over the spring or summer

now id really like to take 5k and have it repainted crimson pearl but not gona do that
only time id spend the money for a color change is if i was going to turn this into a show car or it was just going to be my second car as a toy
wich maybe in a few years that might happen

thinking of getting an 05 or newer sts 4 or v perhaps
but not sure if thats gona happen or not time will tell

An Eldorado - I can see having Lambos cause it's a coupe and only has two doors. (Edit - Actually, an Eldo would probably look pretty bad-ass with Lambos...)

Sedans with Lambo doors look weird to me. I saw a Jaguar S-Type a while back for sale with Lambos and a very flashy (read: tacky) paint job. Wrong on so many levels.

I would have bought that car in a heartbeat, '96.

Despite what us Americans are bred with, front-hinged hoods are (or at least were) actually pretty commonplace on European cars. When my buddy was helping me work on the Bricklin, the hood opening backwards totally blew his mind! Said it's the only car he's seen do that except Corvettes - I told him it's a mostly European thing...

As an aside, I suppose the reasoning behind a front-hinged hood is so that the wind won't blow it into your windshield while driving should the latch fail.

First vehicle I went all out on was an 89 chevy astro van in which I did the following:
-Silver paint with red ghost flames
-16 inch wheels with reverse baby moon hubs
-4 captains chairs wrapped in maroon crushed velvet interior
-8 12 inch audiobahn subs with 6000 watts of amp
this was my first attempt to go all out on a vehicle and for the most part was clean and got me alot of attention back in 2001. all the work on this one was done mostly by payed help aside from the system.

the most expensive one I did though was my 92 honda accord coupe back in 2007:
-H22A engine swap
-OBX header
-OBX chi flow cat
-Skunk2 cat back exhaust
-11 Ib lightened flywheel
-stage 2 excedey clutch
-chipped P28 ECU street tuned
-LC-1 wideband gauge kit for tuning
-15 inch american racing wheels
-gabriel shocks
-tien s tech racing springs
-forbidden short throw shifter
-ITR shift knob
-blackhoused headlights
-amber corners

all work on this one was done by myself with the help of one good friend and tuning was done by a friend who came all the way from Washington state to Tennessee to help with it.

as for the cadillac I have now I cant go all out on it since its a shared vehicle between my wife and myself but should she get a newer car and I get the caillac to myself I may do more than the few minor things I have planned.

I put a 396 big block Chevy engine with an L88 gear drive cam and aluminum heads in the back seat of a 1966 Corvair Corsa. It went like stink and it would corner so hard you could feel your guts slosh. The key to the whole project was that the internals in the Corvair 4spd transmission were the same as the Saginaw cast iron cased four speed being used in contemporary Chevelles. A Chevy bell housing and Chevelle transmission input shaft and throwout bearing carrier would fit in the opposite end of the Corvair transaxle. When all was said and done the transaxle remained in its original position but the engine hooked up to the opposite end from the Corvair engine. I used a radiator from a Dodge weapons carrier in the trunk which was in the front and plumbed it in with tubing run through the tunnel that normally carried the gear shift rod and the clutch cable. The weak point was the differential spider gears but I overcame that with a differential carrier out of a Chevy Corvan which had four spider gears instead of two. I have no idea what the top speed was by the speedometer because it would pin easily but the engine would rev all the way to 7500RPM in top gear. It was a ride you'd never forget.

Elias, that is still the coolest '96 I have seen. I'm betting you regret selling. The car was "right", from the color to the wheels, etc. :cool2:

So was the engine still in the back? I can't imagine having that heavy ass v8 behind the rear axle, that must've been some wicked snap oversteer.
Engine was in rear seat area. Used three speed Corvair trans turned upside down. Radiator in the trunk with 3 electric fans.
