I have three friends flying in to Dallas from Los Angeles, and we're headed to Corpus Christi for Cirque Du Soleil's show... then back through San Antonio, Austin and back to Dallas. Possibly Houston This is over Thurs-Mon

We normally rent an Escalade for things like this, through a hookup at Hertz, but none of us planned ahead.

We're ok with spending four days in the V, but I'd like to spend it in something bigger, like a suburban. I proposed swapping out for my parent's van in San Antonio, but

No vans. I'll stab you I don't make you ride in a van when you come here

Ideally, someone would be planning a drive themselves... 1,000 to 1,500 miles.

lastly, Cirque Du Soleil was not my idea. http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/alegria/default.aspx Malibu's most wanted is being led by his better half and the rest of us are whipped by proxy.

I kinda miss my Grand Marquis right now. it was like driving a couch.

Sigh. I guess we'll have to suffer in a V... Hah.

What ever happened to cramped road trips. Ten years ago, we took road trips to Vegas in... Well, Suburbans and Beamers..

I've asked around at work, to people with Chrysler and Toyota whatnots, but no luck. Family people.

I'm glad my request was left unmolested with comments about the jump in trust this swap would require.

Thanks.

I drove across Canada and then back across the northern US in a 91 BMW 5 Series. I think you will be fine in the V ;)

I didn't know exactly what you were asking...

Asking for a ride swap on the V boards isn't going to net you much! We all have V's! lol

well, i mean, maybe you knew someone. and you would be sensitive to my unspoken concerns. and theirs.

the deal we have/had through Hertz was basically... $100/day with unlimited miles. in an Escalade. But there's none to be found in all of Texas for this weekend. can't really beat that or offer money. I really was hoping for a 1:1 mileage trip swap

I rented a loaded Dodge Ram Quad Cab Big Horn edition in Florida (phew! what a name) for under $20/day, and that included a full-tank fuel refill. I think you can do a lot better than $100/day if you shop around, even for an Escalade.

What company was that?

I'm checking at the airport when I get there. Last hope.

I drove from Maine to Quebec to Labrador City to Newfoundland to Nova Scotia to Fredericton back to Maine in a....95 Camaro Z28. It was pretty sweet. But only 2 guys total. Maybe you can rent a 95 Camaro Z28. Well I guess you'd need to rent two.

We've since gone our separate ways in taste and now drive.. A Honda S2k, Saturn Sky, 335i, and the V

That's not me in the first pic, he's got the Saturn Sky. His passenger has the 335i.

If you can....never rent from an airport....they usually add another 15%-25% to the price of the rental for "airport convience". But if you fly in and are stuck w/o wheels...bam...they gotcha!

The escalades are from an airport (long beach), and there's a trick...

the trip went smoothly, everything was great, I discovered I prefer the V to the seats in an Escalade-- the middle and back rows need foot sumps (or whatever they're called) like the front. Caddy can't be assed to modify the floor in those?

slightly off-topic, a pic I found:

Yeah mine was just a bit more stock. Actually it looked decent from 20 feet. That is, if you were into the salad shooters. It had about 165k in this shot.
