A few weeks ago, one the student interns at work, who's studying film and media, asked me if I'd be interested in helping with a video project he was doing for The Nautics (http://thenautics.com/), a surf rock band from Medford, OR. The look of the video was retro, and it was to be shot at a retro diner in Corvallis. What they needed was a vintage car for the heroine to drive. So they used Betty:

I got lots of compliments the night of the shoot and again when we had the premier of the video at that diner last week. I also got several "thank yous" for letting them use my car, but I was flattered that they asked.

Even if my car wasn't in the video, I'd like it. It's as professional as anything you'd see on MTV, and I love how it tells a story. This kid has some real talent.

I also ended up buying the band's album, Black Light Doves. It's only $9.90 at the iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/black-light-doves/id379560230?ign-mpt=uo%3D4) store.

Since all MTV shows are teens having sex and sick NJ twenty-somethings -- instead of videos -- this is actually better!

Was it just me, or did it seem strange that the girl shows up at a deserted diner in her dad's sedan, dressed to the nines ....... and between pulling into this deserted (chairs on tables) parking lot and diner she walks through the door into a hopping joint to find her apparent date seated in a booth drinking orange Crush (?), then he orders her a coke and gives her a raunchy bouquet which some other dude stumbles into it, landing said bouquet in her face. She's pissed and throws the bouquet in the guy who bought her the coke, and then proceeds to the patio where she tries to pick up the leed singer of the group! So whose going to drive her dad's car home so he can go to work in the morning? I am confused!

^^^ You're taking this way too literally. Besides, the guy at the diner is the drummer in the band; didn't you see him look at her and smile at the end?

That was a really well done video, Betty got plenty of "screen time".

The song........meh! Still, the fact that Betty is now infamous is cool! I would have stuck my car in that video as well. :bouncy:
