: DIC Replacement in 07 CTS-V

Alright guys, I am a long time lurker here and finally need to ask a question. I'll start by saying I used the preferred search approach (google with site:cadillacforums.com) and struck out...

I am sick to death of the factory radio! I really want to replace it with something else (likely and IPAD). However, I don't won't to loose the DIC functionality. Has anyone decoded the data stream on the DIC feed so that I could write a program to host DIC functionality on the IPAD.

OR

Does anyone know how use a standard CTS DIC in the CTS-V (I could have sworn that I saw a swap over to a CTS DIC in a CTS-V in one of these threads - I just can't seem to find it).

Thanks in advance!

It wasn't done on purpose.

Some guy bought a V and the seller screwed him on the Nav by replacing it with a CTS DIC.

Plugs right in.

You can do some searching, but the quote I got for doing the data stream was more then what the car was worth.

Thanks for the response. If I can get a "plug in" solution I will definitely go that route. I guess if I get really hard up to put it on the IPAD I will borrow one of the comms sniffers from work and try and decode it myself...

Wait? So the CTS DIC (about the size of a single DIN) will work in place of the CTS-V DIC? Then stick in an aftermarket double DIN below it?

That to me sounds viable. I don't really care for the DIC in my V & would love for something touch screen.

Damn, the CTS DIC's are like $70 on ebay, I'd be *HAPPY* to stick that in & swap in a carputer/double din!

Yep that is your best bet for DIC functionality AND an after market screen. I went down this road a few months ago but started to near 1k in parts the way I wanted to do it and I don't need to spend that much on carputer crap. (Thats ported heads money etc).

I keep forgetting there's anything other than a V! :) I don't venture into the regular section.

What did you end up with? Got a thread on it?

I've built *ALL* of my PCs & don't see why I couldn't build a carputer. I'm sure once I get more familiar with the limitations, I could build one for a decent price with reliability & decent performance.
