Better looking, but still has two too many doors.

Love the interior appearance and tail lights.

The front end of it still reminds me of an Evo X though, unfortunately.

The old SRT8 was the only Charger I liked. But, in pictures, this looks like the worst Charger this millenium...

I think it looks great. I'd drive the wheels off it! :cool2:

That nose is seriously pushing the limits of what is acceptable on a big American car, but holy crap does that new interior make up for it.

As with the Camaro ZL1 I don't see what there is to get excited about the interior; i.e the seats look cheap, the steering wheel contemporary generic and the from what I can see of the dash and binnacle pretty mundane!

The car looks like what it is, a basic model that some flunkies in the styling department tacked on some already outdated performance car clichés and said "Wow" on their way out the door to the roach coach at the curb for lunch. The rehash of the of the Chrysler 300's grill takes this theme to the point of absurdity. Fiat management should fire the current styling staff and bring in the boys and girls from Italy!

Agree on the EVOesque front. Power numbers are good, though.

I don't see anything great about the interior. And while the power is good, it's middle of the pack considering engine size...

It's not how good this interior is, it's how monumentally bad the last one was.

Aack. The door vent thing is as absurd as the front end, I prefer the last model

Yeah, it looks a lot like an EVO-X when looking at the front end, and in profile. I do like how it looks from the rear and the interior IS monumentally better than the last one's.

The front and rear "bumpers" look to have been inspired by a Bricklin SV-1, an aside from Bricklin's aspiration to "safety car" status, not an inspired design. I hope this type "bumper" doesn't set a trend for the near future!

Funny, I just saw an ad at a bus stop for the new Charger saying "don't follow design trends"

I feel trashy for wanting this car.

Hopefully it wears off after taking some vitamin C.

^ I agree. I feel naughty driving the Charger and I'll probably feel naughty driving the new one.

I was going to call you crazy for saying that (and bringing my precious Bricklin into the conversation!) but then I took a second look and can, sadly, see some similarity:

Actually, I think the Bricklin's designers did a much better job than the Charger SRT8"s design team! Ironically the Bricklin is using Fiat tail lights (not a big deal, a lot of Italian exotics used the same tail lights during the seventies). Just goes to show "what goes around, comes around!"

I fail to see any similarities. Now the '80s era 300ZX and the Bricklin...

billc83

The bumper is the only similarity. The Charger's bumper, with its dip in the center, reminds me just a little of a supermarket shopping cart (where you place your hands to push).

Today I saw a 2012 Charger parked in CVS parking lot! Unfortunately I should say I was disappointed by the new design! I call it a huge step back for Charger! The new headlights was like Lancer and it was cool, the rear lights was like Challenger and it was gorgeous.... But grill was so ugly... The worst thing that I really hated about this new design is the roof line and the long body lines from the driver door to the trunk!!!! You really need to see the car in person to realize how much ugly those roof, body and trunk lines are!

The local PD just got some unmarked Chargers. They look angry, perhaps too angry for the suburbs.

DouglasJRizzo

The charger never did it for me. it tries too hard to look tough and just doesn't quite "make it". A two door coupe would've been better but the hatched roof line isn't pleasing to my eye. But, lots of people like these so...

It's so wrong to put side coves on a four door, and for crap's sake, give up the cross hairs grille thing already! The cross hairs looked good when they wanted Ram trucks to look like a K-whopper or a Peter-car :in Jerry Reed voice:, but so sick of it on cars. Oh, and the SRT8 front end also looks like an Lancer Evo too, fail.

Lancer Evo pig snout option. Unchecked.

For some reason, the Charger police car seems to stand out even more than the old Ford CVPI did. They can "stealth" these things all they want to but it's like a giant billboard that says "cop!!" when an unmarked Charger comes down the street.

Some things never change. The old Dodge and Plymouth police package cars were also known for being lousy unmarked cop cars, their styling screamed "Cop!" too.

menacing is the term they use lol.. That's too menacing, okay sir.. Maybe I'll bring it down a notch by wearing a flower in my pocket. (ah those were the days) and unmarked would scream TASK more than anything lol TASK is more menacing than police, but less menacing than detective.
