Well, what do you know, effective speed control at last! And in Virginia they are all upset about cameras at traffic lights! Now if they could just come up with something to enforce tailgating!

LOL!!!!!! That made my day

Funny stuff!!!!

Sad but true, I remember Car And Driver running an article 2-3 years ago about how the Ohio State Highway Patrol was using small aircraft like the Cessna to enforce speed limits. Basically they'd paint a huge white line on the shoulder, then exactly one mile down the road they'd paint another huge white line. The aircraft would time your distance between the two lines, then radio units on the ground to pull you over if you were speeding. Don't know if they still do this, this was back when the OSHP still painted their cars grey with yellow lettering, which was a while back.

:yeah: They're still doing it.... or they're atleast still painting the white stripes on the hwy.
It's been a while since I've heard of anyone getting a ticket that way though.

Air patrol enforcement of speeding out west, at least in California and Arizona, with lines painted on the pavement and signs warning drivers of enforcement planes overhead have been there since at least the 1970's. But, to be honest, I have never seen a plane or heard of anyone actually getting a ticket.

It is more than two years that I live in Arizona and so far I never ever have heard or seen anything about or related to air patrol enforcement.... Probably they might have stopped doing it in Arizona... But instead we have speed cameras now...
