One of the members of Club Cadillac in Korea has uploaded a picture of his new 2011 SRX 3.0 LF1 with a weird yellow mark on the air filter housing:

Anyone know what it is? He is concerned about the mark. I understand him since I'd expect a clean engine room with a new car.

I know it is nothing to worry about safety-wise, but there might be some reason?

Generally these types of yellow marks are used to indicate completion of a mandatory 100% QC inspection for some specific type of defect. Could have been at the assembly plant or the supplier.

cam30era is correct.

However that huge of a paint or chalk mark to me indicates more of a supplier mark or a repair mark because usually GM Plants would not make that large of a marking. In most cases if it was for a quality check it would be only a colored paint stick dab and definitely not a long drawn out marking like that photo shows.:arghh:

Note: It could have been a line repair that someone at the assembly plant noticed and marked up too. Tell the owner to wipe it off for it does look bad thats for sure!

I told the owner to wipe it off and enjoy the car :)
