Do you really need all those special tools to change your timing belt? I've changed several timing belts and none run very well if they are off even one tooth,so I know how presise it has to be,can't it be done like every other car?

It can be done, but it is a lot harder. Do you really want to take that chance on an interference engine?

If you only change the belt, they no you do not need the tool. But if your tentioners and pullys are original.. then your just asking for them to break and the engine to be junk.

My mech said that the gates kit with belt is a good one to get. the belt has markings that show where it goes so that the timing is correct.

but if u are doing the job.. do the tentioners and all The kit he used came witht he pullies attached to the back plate.

TCk285A it was $309

wgoins88 has offered to rent the tool kit to us.. he is actually trying to sell his catera on ebay.
