I have a 1979 coupe deville phaeton And I just took the muffler off right after the cat. converter. I dont know if you've heard the roar of the 425 unleashed, but it is awsome. I want to put a muffler on It but I still want the sound. Are there any good mufflers that you have tried or have heard? I've got a little flowmaster lined up off of an old truck or something. The thing is tiny, I mean like 1 1/2 ft. long. Anyway, does anyone have any good suggestions? Let me know!

I would go with the flowmaster eventhough its smaller its a lot less restrictive than a regular muffler. The flowmasters always sound great. I got them on my 95...

I have dual Dynomax' on my '79 Sedan. But it has a 472, so much more growl than the 425! It sounds awesome!

Try a Flowmaster 50 series. Perfect Cadillac exhaust.

One more thing I forgot to mention: will removing the exhaust mess with the timing enough to where it needs to be adjusted? I removed it but didnt think about that.

Removing the exhaust will not affect the engine timing whatsoever. By the way, I have 80 Deville with a 425 from a '78, and i sport $25 mufflers ran on 2-3/4 inch custom bent duals, stock exhaust manifolds....toughest sound I've ever heard on Caddy!
