: Trailer Hitch Recommendations for 2011 SRX?

I'm looking for a trailer hitch that's easy to install. I know Cadillac has one you can buy for around $400.00 but I'm sure they contract out to someone to manufacture it for them. I've seen a couple that I like, one being the Curt and the other the Draw-Tite. If anyone has installed one that was easy to install and added the wiring harness connection with very little trouble please post your recommendations. Thank you.

I have a class three Curt hitch and wiring harness. 2" receiver. The cost was about $150.00 total. The cover from GM is $100.00. You can cut your cover around your hitch and make it look very nice for free. I'm not trailering anything but use it for my bike rack so I didn't get a trans cooler. The whole thing took about 45 min. to install including the harness which just plugs into the GM recepical.

I have a Curt Class III hitch, but haven't installed it yet. I'm waiting on the fascia closeout to arrive before i install. Electrical looks to be super simple plug and play.

Thank you for the speedy responses and GMJim for pointing out the other thread. I did a search but it returned a lot of threads that weren't specific to the SRX. I guess I needed to narrow my search down more. The information is very helpful and confirms my original research regarding the Curt hitch. I will be purchasing one in a couple of weeks and trying to get it installed on the first warm day we have.

You won't be disappointed with the Curt hitch.

Do you have a part number for the fascia closeout? I understand GM makes a special one for the SRX with a hitch. Thanks,

I'll have three closeouts available for sale, since the dealer can only bring in four (4) at a time. I had to buy all.
I pick em up thursday, and will offer some on here before putting the three remaining on Ebay. (Shipping from Saskatchewan, Canada)

My installer said that the class II isn't out yet but will be next week. Part number 12070.

I put a class three Curt hitch on mine. With the closeout it hides nicely!!

I purchased and had installed the Curt class II hitch for use with a bike carrier. The instructions say that an additional strap be used between the top of the bike rack and the vehicle. My previous vehicle was a Caddy DTS with a Drawtite class II hitch. I never needed an additional strap with that one. Is anyone else using the Curt class II with a bike rack without the additional strap?

What "drop" are you using on the ball mount to get the trailer level? 2" 3"??

thanks,

thanks,

Depends on height of the trailer. I use a 5/8" drop on my motorcycle trailer. When I used the same trailer on my Equinox I used a 2" rise.

H m m m m m m I suppose that does make sense, I shall have to take the trailer down (hanging from the garage roof) and measure it.

I don't use a extra strap for my bike rack and it works perfectly.

Any chance you'd be able to post a picture of your set-up?

Thanks!

GM Jim - My local dealer could not find this part number. Is this a Cadillac Partor from another GM Vehicle? Thank you.

Hitch Cover Fascia, GM Part Number 19172271

These were originally posted on the accessories page of the Cadillac website. For some reason they disappeared. You can still find them on various GM parts websites. Just don't buy it from www.newgmparts.com. See my post (#29) at the link below.
