In the 92 model year is there a clutch coil relay? Or is the coil switch on ditectly through a power module? The A/C clutch coil doesn't seem to get enough power. It gets twelve volts switched on to it and there is a slight magnetic pull but, its to weak to engage the clutch. The voltage drops to 1 volt under load. My crappy chiltons book doesn't cover any of this. Does anyone know what component powers the coil and where its located? thanx

The clutch plates are a wear item. So, after a spell the clutch gap widens.

It is possible to have the clutch plates wear enough....to where to gap is too large for the coil to pull in the plate.

You can try tapping the plate in with a piece of wood. If the plate now grabs...you have excessive clutch gap. This is also true is the AC works with the car cold.....but quits once everything warms up. There is just enough expansion as everything warms up to cause excessive gap at the clutch.

The clutch/hub/bearing can be serviced without messing with the freon.
