After attempting reglueing the blown factory subwoofer in my 2001 Deville, I finally found a suitabe replacement. RE Audio makes a dual 2 ohm, free air sub called the SRX10D2. I found it on Ebay for $84 shipped. It is rated 300 watts rms. It measure slightly smaller and much taller and heavier than the factory sub. The holes for mounting were at a slightly smaller radius than the original. I was planning on making an adapter plate, but after I got the car apart I realized all I need to do was enlarge the 4 mounting holes on the sub using tin snips. These new mounting slots will be covered up by the heavy rubber mounting trim supplied with the sub. The original fasteners were a little tricky to get in but they appear to be holding the sub down rather well. The bottom just fits thru the carpet trim piece under the rear deck. Time will tell. But, the sub does sound really good. Whenever the weather gets nicer I'll try a side by side comparison with my wife's 02 Deville. Looks to be built rather well, hopefully it will hold up with me blasting the bass like I do.
