: '99 STS with 16k miles, go for it or no?

Hello all, i'm getting tired of my Aurora and its electrical issues. However, as far as I know, 120k miles with no head gasket issues.

Anyway, the car is freaking mint. Black/black, 1 owner, 60 year old driver who passed away. Maintained the thing like a rock..coolant changes every 3 years, oil changes every 6 months with Mobil 1, Frequent waxes and leather cleaning etc. Only thing is that its a 99 and im sure at some point it will have the head bolts pull. Don't all 99s do that?? The wife is asking 10k for the car and won't go below that number. I'm not sure i would pay it.. suggestions? :banghead: I am just looking for a nice DD that i can still drive in rain and snow and what not. I won't take my '09 out in any of that with the mods that are on it.

My uncle paid 15K for a 1995 Camaro Z28 6 speed hard top with 28,000KM's on it, last year

Kelly Blue Book says $9,195 for the '99 STS with 16K miles and in excellent condition

Not all 99's blow head gaskets (pull head bolts). The forum might scare you because almost everything you see on the forum is those "overheating, help" threads, not "fine after 200,000 miles" threads. The tendency of the failure is rather higher than other cars, but not all engines are popping heads for sure.

Heck, if the head bolts pull, I'd fix it and ride it until body parts fall apart.

do you want to spend 10k on any car? i assume you want a FWD seville and came across this car. you could find a 03 sts with a few more miles and maybe for a lot less money. i assume this car has original tires? 12 yr old tires?

Anything that should have gone wrong under warranty will now break without GM paying for it.

seems most 02-03 sevilles are in the 10k range with average miles. mag ride suspension would be nice. i see that vintage cars with 100k miles and start to fear repair issues.
