Long-story short....I've had the V garaged for about 10 weeks now since the snow has been so bad and I failed the German inspection process in Nov for window-tint and no front license plate bracket.
Anyways...I just got new temp tags yesterday and drove the V to a detailing shop to have the window tint removed and the Creative front license plate bracket mounted while they had the V.
Well when I arrived at the shop...I noticed that I was SIDE-SWIPED lightly on the rear drivers side door with three white paint transfers.....ARGHHHHH!!!!!! :banghead:
The shop said they could pull the dents and fix the paint w/a technology called "SMART REPAIR" as well as touch up all the other minor chips for 250 Euro (~$325).
Has anyone heard of this "SMART REPAIR"? Also...attached is the link to their website www.lukas-kl.de
I'm at work so I can't upload the pics of the dents....ARGHHHH! The sad pics will follow when I get home.....
The only thing that was good about the day is that on the way to the shop I hit 141mph on the A6 Autobahn....damn I love this car (w/o dents of course)!
Anyways....thanks for the help...and I just wanted to verify that the GM Paint Code for a 2006 Black V is 41U and the touchup is WA-8555?
Here are some pics from my BlackBerry from the swipe....head-on it doesn't look too bad...but from the straight-side it looks like the door was used for Bondo practice in a shop class....I'll get some pics with my camera tomorrow....
On a good note....here's a pic of the Creative License Plate bracket mounted....looks pretty sharp....
Now from looks of picture you have a large span wave in panel from front to back at knee level of your reflection in picture. A good dent guy could uncrease that panel pretty easily, as for that scuffs scratches I cannot tell if it went down to primer layer. Since it's a standard GM factory pack black paint repairs are easy so price is within line compared with united states.
As for smart repair system it's most likely a renamed 3m P3000 Trizact system. Which is amazing stuff to repair scuffs/scratches.
Thanks...that is really good to know....the guy at the shop seemed pretty confident that he could fix it. But with his limited English vocab....it was hard to convey to him that I needed to have it look "perfect"....
Nonetheless.....when I pulled into the shop there was a new 7 Series BMW and an X5 getting some work done in the bays...so hopefully the shop knows what a customer wants when they say perfect. (fingers crossed).
Here's another pic straight on that I forgot I had on the BlackBerry.....
i'm pretty sure you've got your paint codes correct, but to double check you can look at the SPID label in the trunk either under the carpet on the top of the spare tire cover or on the backside of the cover
looks like this (notice this particular car actually has the same codes you're looking for - 41U and 8555)
Well....I only had the car on base from my garage till I went to the shop....so justice will be served in due time.....but I appreciate it.
However on a good note.....the roads cleared up this afternoon and I finally PASSED the German inspection and got some plates...I'm finally LEGAL in good 'ole Deutchland!
I'd like to give a shout-out to Max and Kristie at Creative Steel for the front license plate bracket....it looks REALLY sharp with the German long plate on it. Also...you wouldn't believe the amount of compliments I get on it for only having the plate on one day! BTW....Max & Kristie...there are a ton of Mustang and Camaro guys that will probably be emailing you looking for a solution for their front ends as well!
Here's some pics!
And here are some pics of the V getting a bath on a snowy day to get all the road salt off before I put her back in her stable!
BTW....forgot to post pics of the fixed side-swipe....came out pretty good....but as you can imagine how picky we all are about our Vs.....won't be completely happy until I get a new door.....
From a complete side shot....I can still see a little wave if I'm looking for it....argghhh.....
