Can anyone tell me how to change and locate the blower motor on a 98 Deville? Only posts I find tell me people eventually find it, but dont tell me how they did it? My fan has almost complety stopped blowing air. Once in a while I get a small amount of air coming out, but just for couple seconds. Ive bought a new blower, but dont know where to start to put it in. Cant locate old one..

Thanks for any help.

Its exactly info like that that makes this website great, thanks. That's what I thought it was, but the new OEM part looks completely different on the outside. As for swapping it out, watch it folks, it is not easy. Took me three hours. Much time trying to get at hard to reach bolts. Once unbolted, has to come out in pieces. There just isn’t enough room between the hole in the firewall it sits in and the engine. I actually broke the fan into pieces while removing it. Also took the front plate off to make it thinner. All spark plug wires and harnesses in that area had to be moved aside. There is a stabilizer bar or something running from the left to right side of the engine compartment just above the shocks that had to come out.

To put the new one in, same, had to unscrew the front plate off to make it a little thinner. The new fan cylinder unlike the old one was slightly bendable. I had to put the cylinder in the hole, then run from the left side to the right repeatedly while bending it in a little on one side then the other. Thought for sure I would break it, and then suddenly it pops in. If the new cylinder weren’t a little flexible no way, the valve cover or header whatever its called would have had to come off. Finally, air again.

I have heard others say to remove the torque struts (dog bones) on the front of the engine and rock the engine forward slightly to get the extra clearence needed to install the fan motor.
