Sudden Problem With Shifter/Shift Pattern On My 2005 CTS-V

I just installed a new shift knob from TWM Performance and everything was fine for a day then all of a sudden the shift pattern changed. It seems as if the shift pattern has moved rearward and now I can't shift into 2nd, 4th or 6th gears since the shift lever is hitting the rear part of the plastic bevel that holds the boot. Also, the shift lever seems as though it may be up to high and loose. Any Suggestions as to what just happened? Thanks

You didn't touch the base of the shifter, so I wouldn't start there. It sounds like you broke the rubber bond between the upper cone and the lower portion. This probably happened when you pulled up to remove the old knob. Does your knob twist now when it's attached? If it does, send me a PM.
