Joe Pruitt, Event Coordinator, has taken it upon himself to include the Cadillac XLR's in next year's celebration. He already has commitments from some of the Cadillac people who were involved with the XLR to be in attendance next year, with possibly more to come. He also has a commitment from Martin Cadillac of Bowling Green to be involved.

The XLRs will be on display during the event with their own parking area. This will be the first year that the XLRs will be part of the event. It would be great to have a large number of XLRs show up for this.

Joe Pruitt is so serious about including the XLR Community that he personally made the trip to Madison, IN to meet with the Midwest Marauders XLR group and told us that in reality Friday would be dedicated to the XLR's, and we will also be included in the parade through Bowling Green--complete with police escort!! Joe wants this to be a premier event, not only for the Corvettes, but also the XLRs. Bowling Green is the birthplace of the XLR; let's make a great showing on the event!!!

The registration page (https://www.elbowspace.com/servlets/cfdC?xr4=&formts=2006-06-20%2017:21:26.781001) is updated with the XLR "Display only" option at $25 now. Register and book your hotel rooms now, this event is always sold out early!

Well folks, we told you this year was going to be one heck of a birthday party and we've been busy putting all the details together. Homecoming's 30th is a big one and one we share with the Corvette Assembly plant. This year we will offer a plant manager's seminar, a new Road Tour, golf tournament, GM new vehicle debut, and one of our most anticipated events, a 30 year Corvette display, one for every year since the Corvette plant's opening and the very first Homecoming!

That's right, we are now accepting applicants for Corvettes 1981-2011 to represent their year in this historic display. Applicants need to go to our website for details. The icon Corvettes chosen will be either original or custom and in best condition of all applicants for that year. We will choose a primary and alternate for each year, just in case. Check our website for further information. More Information Click Here.

And don't forget this year we have invited the Corvette's "cousin", the Cadillac XLR's to join us in the 30th Bowling Green Anniversary celebrations. Over 50 of these beautiful Cadillac two-seaters have already registered and we anticipate many more will join in the fun, shows, live music, and new Road Tour through the beautiful Kentucky scenery and back roads.

We have never had so many early registrations and our space is filling up fast. Remember your early registration invites you to our "Touch of Class" Meet & Greet on Thursday evening where you can meet all your favorite celebrities and local dignitaries. Last year we had over 250 attend and we are already above that so don't hesitate to get your name in before we hit our limit of 400 guests.

We have over 50 vendors already aboard including the very popular Al Knoch's transport hauler filled with Corvette tops and interiors and the trained staff to install them while you wait! Simply give us a shout when you register and we will take your order and ensure that Al has your needs on the truck. Where else can you come enjoy a fantastic and unique show, and have your Corvette's top or interior updated on site!

Many other items are in the planning so don't hesitate. Register today! Only 5 months to go!

Sincerely,
Joe and Vera Pruitt

Well I guess I should have been bumping this thread, but I hate to self-promote. The bad news is It would seem no one saw/replied to the above post. The good news is I was able to attend the 2011 Corvette Homecoming in Bowling Green, KY along with 31 other XLRs. Yes, a total of 32 cars and their owners showed up and we had a ball. The Corvette folks welcomed us warmly. The event organizer had some excellent seminars for the XLR owners. And we also went off on our own cruise to the Corvette museum, the Assembly plant, and a local state park. Overall, we got a wealth of information, made a bunch of new friends, and partied hard.

Climbed a ladder at the Museum and took a pic of every car there at the time.

I couldn't help but get a closeup of the two lead cars lined up at the museum - mine and Dennis (we were both on this years Hot Rod Power Tour and still had our windshield decals on the cars).

I also tried to do some panoramic shots at the museum:

Tried the same thing at the Plant but we were rushed and people were getting in the frame:

http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad271/GizmoQ/Midwest%20Marauders/2011%20NCH/plantpanarama3.jpg

Inside the plant I really like the tour room so I took at least this pick:
http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad271/GizmoQ/Midwest%20Marauders/2011%20NCH/P7160162a.jpg

At the end of the show, Joe Pruitt, the event coordinator, and the MC, Mrs Kentucky 2011 (Kristi Riggs), gave out awards which took quite a while.

And then there was the three XLR presentations. And when I looked around for our groups resident photographer, they were gone. EEEEEEEKKKK! No one to take pictures for our group. So I ran up near the podium as fast as I could and snapped a few as best as I could. Quinn from Wisconson received a smock as a door prize.

Brian & June received the award for the longest drive. They came all the way from Alberta, Canada:
http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad271/GizmoQ/Midwest%20Marauders/2011%20NCH/Longestdriveaward.jpg

And unbeknown to me, the next thing I knew... Joe was calling me up to the stage saying he didn't know my name but everybody knew "Gizmo".http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad271/GizmoQ/th_gizmosgremlinshadow87x100.jpg (http://s943.photobucket.com/albums/ad271/GizmoQ/?action=view&current=gizmosgremlinshadow87x100.jpg) I have no idea who the guy was standing next to me that I shoved my camera in his hands and said start taking pictures. I thought I was about to receive some sort of gag gift since I had been pestering Joe the whole weekend about different aspects of the event. But he was very serious. He explained that the former plant manager Wil Cooksey (he was the plant manager during the XLR production) had gone out to view the cars on display the day before and chose one as his favorite, MINE.

It was such an honor to accept the award for Plant Managers Choice.

I've got to give special props to the above two speakers. When they opened up their presentations to questions, they went all out to help us with our concerns. One actually came out to the parking lot, grabbed some tools and worked on our cars to fix some minor discrepancies.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I wouldn't say it was the most interesting, but definitely the most bling under the hood. Lots had intakes and exhausts, or even aftermarket wheels, but, I thought the most interesting was Jack:
2006 Star Black Limited Edition #165/250 XLR with Volant Cool Air Intake w/ twin e-Ram electric Superchargers and 9th fuel injector, 06 Corvette Trailer Hitch, 4 ham radios on dash, and 3 ham radio antennae. It was a sight to see, but I can't find the pics I took of it.

Jack's XLR definitely does sound interesting. Was it a V-Series as well?

No just a base model with 2 E-Ram superchargers.

Nice pictures, I wish I lived closer and could get together with a large group like that. In southern calif. we have several xlrs, but no one seems to want to get together.

He said when he goes full throttle the E-Ram Superchargers come on and more gas is needed.

Are these people members here? If not, ask them to sign up and we'll get a local event going.
