Hello! I have been looking for a luxury car with some HP and found the CTS-V. Now just need to decided which one I want to buy. I am debating on buying a 05 cts-v with 60k miles or a 07 cts-v with 80k miles. Which would you guys choose?

'07. Even though higher miles has 2 years less depreciation. Pretty sure '07 has blutooth connectivity. '05 doesn't. :(

07 has a sunroof which the 05 dont. The 07 is actully cheaper too.

Interesting dilemma.

Can you decide based upon color?

Does one have a more tread left on the tires than the other?

Tad more gasoline in one than the other?

Hm-m ...

None of the V1s have Bluetooth or any real difference in options/features. The differences are the moonroof was standard for 06-07, and XM traffic integration was available with late build 05s. The steering wheel buttons changed for 06. Feature-wise, nothing else is different. The 100k powertrain warranty on the 07 is the most appealing difference, in my opinion.

The real question is......Do you want a truck motor or not? :hide:

Yeah 07 with 100k powertrain is your best bet. LS2 torque curve FTW! :stirpot: The 06-07s have the updated rear diffs and updates to the tranny; however, I bought my 07 just for the black centercaps and steering wheel controls... LOL j/k.

Having said that, the 05 could have an updated diff but you'd have to check the service history to see if it had been replaced. Also, the sunroof delete on the 05 is nice if you're tall and also adds to rarity factor.

I love my 07 with sunroof but I'm between 6'2'' - 6'3'' and there is NO MORE room between my hair and headliner. I have the seat layed back somewhat and all the way down to the floor.

LOL! Which one has a truck motor? I thought they both had a vette engine.

really this decision should be based upon the service records of each car.. we dont have enough information to help you. mileage is just a number really.. how were eached maintained? i would lean towards the 07 espcially if it was thundar gray:drool:

Yeah 07 with 100k powertrain is your best bet. LS2 torque curve FTW!

haha, if you can feel the difference in the torque curve between a LS6 V. LS2.. you deserve a pat on the back or something because the difference is inconsequential in everyday driving/beating on a highway on ramp.

... the black centercaps ...Now, THAT would be the deciding factor for me! LOVE those black center caps!

What are the prices?

The 07 will be worth more on paper if it gets wrapped around a tree.

You could also get a more favorable interest rate if you're financing.

They are both black on black. The 07 is going for 20,900 and the 05 is going for 23k. 05 is from a lexus dealer. The 07 is from a dealer on the corner type of place.

Nah you can feel it. It's like 25 to 30lb-ft from 2500 to 3000rpm. Right where you'd use it every day.

No way they'll get 23k for that 05.

Nah you can feel it. It's like 25 to 30lb-ft from 2500 to 3000rpm. ...I think it's all a function of where your foot is (i.e. how much throttle you're putting into it) at a given speed. If you're at WOT, then the nod would go to the LS2.

No way they'll get 23k for that 05.Agreed. Too many others out there for less.

'07 for the diff and axles.

I had an 05 which was totalled and replaced with an 07. The 07 is by far the better of the two. The only downside is worse gas mileage because the LS2 is a bigger engine. I had quite a few problems with the transmission in the 05 not wanting to go into 1st or reverse, no problems at all with the 07.

When you said the 07 was at a dealer on the corner type, I would highly recommend that you get a warranty history and a CarFax. That type of a used car lot probably got the car from an auction.

Godd luck

'07 for the diff and axles.

And the warranty.
What part of the country are you in and how does the underside of either look. As for the LS6 Vs LS2 , as they where both Corvette motors either is desirable. As soon as you start to modify, the difference in noticeable TC (Yeah Right!!) goes out the window.

Thanks 50 4Ever! I did get a carfax. It shows the car as a corporate lease that was sold at auction. It has a 3k oil change, then had no maintenance till 46k miles. After that it had regular maintenance. Seems like the 07 is a good car and a better buy even with its 80k miles. Thanks for everyones help.

Try calling your local caddy dealer with the vin and get them to pull up the warranty history and send it to you. Carfax is a joke but the warranty history will tell you a lot.

HECK YEAH, ME TOO! I'm so happy for you

the first thing you gotta do is take it to the tint shop! I got limo in the back and 20% on the front windows. $140

what's the 100k powertrain warranty, now? I wasn't aware there was one. I got mine from a used car place too... how do I go about activating this warranty.

Your 07 automatically has a 100k powertrain warranty. If you have a powertrain issue, just bring it to any cadi dealership.

First thing is alarm. They gave me no remotes. Then get a navi CD. After that tint windows among other things.

mine came with no owner's manual. the way it was explained to me was... the drivers at the auctions are _ _ _ _heads and they look for anything to sell.

not too upset about it, but I'm sure they're bound nice and pretty.

fun fact: upper grille mesh is $580-something
lower grille chrome TRIM is $517-something

so about the warranty--if I take it in for a "abnormal reading O2 sensor left cylinder bank" trouble code... that is covered?

Geez, 80k miles on that? Not bad ... not bad at all! Car looks great!

Shifter. First thing is to get a shifter. Call PISNUOFF for his reworked stocker, or call Luke Butler at Lindsay Cadillac if you prefer a UUC. THEN, you can do all that ^^^ other stuff.

Never thought of a shifter. Got a number? How hard are they to install?

You can PM PISNUOFF or search for his thread about the ordering process. Luke can be contacted about the UUC shifter through the Lindsay Cadillac ad that's always visible along the right side of your screen.

I installed a B&M shifter about 4-1/2 years ago. Took me about two hours (which included a diaper change ... no not mine! :thepan: ), but others have done it in less time. It's a step-by-step process involving getting access to the top of the shifter, doing the install which includes getting underneath the car to install a couple of bolts, and buttoning it back up again. Drilling out the two rivets holding the OEM shifter is the most anxiety-inducing part ... just wait to have that first beer till AFTER you do that part, and you'll be fine. Get the UUC shifter bushings from Luke regardless of which way you go; the stockers get tired pretty quickly. My B&M transformed my driving experience with this car and is still in the top one or two mods I've done.

I love the Katech short-throw shifter that I have in my V. I didn't install it myelf, though - but the guy who did had a great line, "After driving a V with a quality short-shifter, the stock shifter feels like an ice cream cone filled with sand." I think that's a bit of an exageration, but it's a great description.
