try this... the rear suspension height sensors are held on by a bolt on the -04 to -06 Escalade ESV's and probly some of the others too. Because of the normal sag of coil springs over time and use, chances are your ride is setting lower and your compressor runs for way longer than it needs too. So what I did was remove each sensor and place a spacer/washer under the bolt of each one effectively fooling the computer into thinking that the rear sits just a bit higher, in fact high enough that now my compressor only runs for no more than 10 seconds instead of 25-30 like it was doing before. And the ride is actually a bit better since it isnt trying to over inflate the system due only to spring sag. Plus now it also doesnt come on as frequently as before either... all this can only help to extend the life of your expensive compressor.
