Hey guys,

I remember a while back being told that I had a 10 bolt cover with 12 bolt ring gear and 8.875" ring gear diameter axle. I did a bunch of research and bumped into this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PONTIAC-GRAND-PRIX-3-55-GEARS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1c0ff18cabQQitemZ 120526572715QQptZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fA ccessories
The gears are produced by FABCRAFT METAL WORKS FROM TEXAS....i took a look at their website but its still under construction. however, their number is 1-800-208-8242. They are also talking about making positraction units for these axles in the future.

Now the big question: Would these work on our 1971-1976 axles?

It looks like they will fit but the price is crazy. You could call a gear manufacturer and get some made for less than that. And thats a low gear, you'd be spinning around 2400 rpm at 70mph on the highway. 3.08 gears were pretty good for me.

That's true....can you name any gear manufacturers? I don't know of any. You're right....these gears may be on the overkill side. However, I am just floored at the idea of possible aftermarket support for our 1971-76 axles. These axles are very odd indeed!

You may be able to get some info from a GM dealership but Yukon is a big name in rearend stuff. There are a couple more big names but I can't remember them. I was able to get a new eaton posi, 373 gears, axle bearings and all bearings and stuff for 450 off ebay.
