So ive wanted to do this for a while, but wasnt sure if it would work or not... Got a great deal on a GM bumper cover painted from the factory for a perfect match, and decided to give it a try. Took about 4 hours but it looks like the car came with it from the factory, very happy with the upgrade. It bolted up perfect, the only thing that had to change was the exhaust tips, I had to cut them off right after the hangers and put an angle cut then re-weld them back on. I was also concerned about the difference between how low the bumper would go and the rocker mouldings, but it is unnoticable... The place I bought my bumper from still have 9 brand new factory, black 08-11 bumper covers left, let me know if anyone is interested, $350 shipped to your door...

Can't see the different. I'm good with the bumper on my 05 STS.

Couldn't tell the difference until you posted the pics of the one in the garage. The new one looks nice, but I don't think I'll do all that work (especially with the exhaust tips).

Look's nice 08 bumper does look a bit more upscale and cleaner-looking. Takes away the "Pontiac" feel and look of the 05

I put on a V series rear bumper on my V8.

I'm just goin to paint the plastic on the bumper cover to match and get rid of the texture on my 05

Is there a way to add the bumper without modding the exhaust?
