you're welcome

Another good one....1972 interior dimensions (Should apply to 1971-76 caddys as well, right?)

lesinfamous posted a GREAT link for intel and info. Thank You for that.

In the past, for other cars on other forums I've had links like this bookmarked... then one day, POOF the link / server is gone :( and I missed out on downloading the info.

So on this occasion, I downloaded many of the jpgs and for my own anal organization converted them into organized pdf documents numbering the pages to match the contents/indexes so that I could quickly navigate the info without having to scroll through individual jpgs.

Recently I've received some great help and advice from this board so I wanted to share my work in providing links to easily navigated and downloadable pdf documents;

1964-77_Power_Brakes (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1964-77_Power_Brakes.pdf)
1964_Cad_Serviceman_No11_Nov1964 (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1964_Cad_Serviceman_No11_Nov1964.pdf)
1966_Carburetor_-_Delco_Roch_Adjusment_Manual (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1966_Carburetor_-_Delco_Roch_Adjusment_Manual.pdf)
1967-68_Disc_Brakes (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1967-68_Disc_Brakes.pdf)
1968_Cadillac_Data_Book (LARGE with LOTS of great info) (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1968_Cadillac_Data_Book.pdf)
1968_Cadillac_Owner's_Manual (Very Helpful) (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1968_Cadillac_Owner's_Manual.pdf)
1968_Tune_Up_Specs_by_Sun_Corp (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1968_Tune_Up_Specs_by_Sun_Corp.pdf)
1970_Delco_Aire_Catalogue (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1970_Delco_Aire_Catalogue.pdf)
1971_Delco_Radio (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/1971_Delco_Radio.pdf)
Cadillac_Turbo_Hydra-Matic_Transmission_Service (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/Cadillac_Turbo_Hydra-Matic_Transmission_Service.pdf)

A note on these next two pdfs.
FIRST, This was a GREAT resource as it shows 'blown up' images of nearly every category on the vehicle with names and part numbers. The orignal jpgs were all oriented to be upright ("Landscape" pages were turned upright to "Portrait").
I made 2 pdfs. The first one has the images restored to their original orientation ("Portrait" and "Landscape" mixed).
The second ("with Uprighted Images") retains the orientation as posted online (all "Portrait");

Parts_Catalog_thru_1970 (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/Parts_Catalog_thru_1970.pdf)
Parts_Catalog_thru_1970_with_Uprighted_Images (http://www.freewebtown.com/raiderzfan53/Cadillac/Parts_Catalog_thru_1970_with_Uprighted_Images.pdf)

Enjoy

Thank you, bhs82! Now we can get those valuable documents into our computer easily: All part numbers available and exploded views. Great! :)

Thing is, it appears at times as though the part # is not year specific in terms of accuracy...

For instance...
I was looking for a dashpot for a 68 CoupeDeVille...

The part # in the blow up image is listed as 3.440 (http://www.modifiedcadillac.org/documents/Shop_Manuals_and_Illus_Catalogs/Parts%20Illus%20Catalog%20thru%201970/Group%203/tn/Group%203%20-%204.jpg.html)...
But I discovered while that is valid, the 1964 has a GM part #1482827 while the 1968 is GM part #1483692.

In essence, the "3.440" is tantamount to a numerical 'name' or synonym for 'dashpot', under which there are several differing part #s depending on the year. So while it is a helpful tool for research, it is not necessarily spot on literally.

Those are called "Groups" the way the GM parts catalog works is that sections of the car that are related are 'grouped' together and under each main group are specific groups

for instance major group 3 is the fuel/exhaust/emission group & 3.130 is the specific group for the vent and purge valves and canister

group 3.440 seems to be for throttle control

cars and trucks share the same groups 0-9
cars continue with groups 10-15 for body exterior and interior parts
trucks have groups 16 & 17 for those interior and exterior parts

Thank you for that explanation. That makes a bit of sense and sure helps in terms of future approach.

If you'd like I can provide a list of the major groups

i can't seem to find a list that i can copy and paste... ugh
so i'll post them up by hand when i get a free couple of minutes

edit: okay found a cheat - i did a screen grab of my parts catalog after going in with just year/make/model for a car and then a truck

Notice that the Group 4 shares brakes and transmissions

Also note that if you go through the compnine parts catalog it will be organized into these groups after you pick your year, make, and model.
(same as my parts catalog - the compnine catalog is basically the snapshot of the 2008 catalog frozen in time)

Thank You...
Based on your input, I would assume the groups are listed on the index page here (http://www.modifiedcadillac.org/documents/Shop_Manuals_and_Illus_Catalogs/Parts%20Illus%20Catalog%20thru%201970/Parts%20Illus%20Index/Parts%20Illus%20Index%20-%201.jpg).

Is it any different?

bingo... exactly the same

what you have there appears to be a 1970 parts catalog

you might just want to look into buying a shop/service manual on ebay (don't think you can buy them new anymore)

i noticed a bunch on ebay with just a quick search ... $25-$35 seemed to be the going rate
