Anybody been to look at and drive any of the new 2011 cars with a sticker under $50 grand?

Oh I can name several:

BMW 335i/135i(the turbo models)
Mustang GT
Camaro SS
Challenger RT/SRT8
300c/Charger(those are all new this year, love the look of the Charger)
Miata
Audi A5/A4
VW Jetta TDI(diesel)
Honda Civic(I like the spaceship design, and its great basic transit)
Suburu WRX(even though its ugly, still a great performer)
Ford Fusion
Ford Flex(my favorite family hauler, looks sick IMO)
Mitsu Evolution

Just to name a few off the top of my head, I'd take any of those parked in my garage, athough I'd only spend my $$$$ on a few of them.

In addition to some of the stuff Aron posted...

Lincoln MKX/Ford Edge are all new this year and have more technology, and USABLE technology, than just about anything else on the road.

Pretty sure the new and MUCH improved 5 Series starts somewhere around 50, I know the E Class starts at 49k.

^ Unfortunately, that still doesn't help the looks. Also, for obvious reasons, BMW refuses to apply the "M1" badge to that.

Hmmm, off the top of my head....

Audi A4/A5
BMW 335i
Cadillac CTS
Mustang GT
Camaro SS
Cruze LTZ- Really think it's a great "econocar"
F350 King Ranch Crew Cab (my favorite new truck)
G37 Coupe
Kia Optima (certainly the most interesting looking midsize family sedan)
Nissan Maxima (always a favorite of mine)
Mini Cooper S
VW GTi
Saab 9-5

Are we talking base MSRP, or realistically optioned...b/c if you get the diesel 4x4, a 350 KR Crew is well over $50K...

All of the Diesel pickups in highline trim now can crest 50k EASY.

I went to build my own, and with the diesel, the King Ranch is like $56,000, so mine would have the 6.2L V8.

Gas engine in a heavy duty truck is uber-lame IMO. Just buy an XLT with cloth seats and a vinyl floor and save some $$$. I would definetly get a 4wd truck with vinyl floors, cause that thing is going to be up past its doors stuck in mud if I owned it.

Forget new cars! Just buy yourself 166 used Geo Metros! :D (Thats assuming each one costs $300 and you spend all 50k)

Seriously, 50k on a used car right now buys you an *incredible* amount of car.

I'd prefer any of the Diesels in the new HD trucks, but Ford's 6.2L V8 looks awesome, well over 400hp and 400 lb/ft, with a six speed auto transmission. It'll go like a SOB and save you $7,000 over the diesel.

The maintenance and fuel efficiency differences on the V8 will likely shrink or eliminate that gap if you REALLY use the truck for what it's made for. If you just throw a lift on it and drive it around town all day it matters less.
