Deep, true heartfelt thanks to everyone - This morning, in typical 71 year old fart style, I picked up a couple of prescriptions at the Naval Academy pharmacy, scarfed down a half rack of ribs at Red, Hot, & Blue, and this eve Karen is the designated driver to/from The Narrows restaurant where I will make a fool of myself with Maker's Mark bourbon and fried oysters. :yup:

As a long time Ambassador and resident of the Bourbon Capital of the World I get Christmas "gifts" every year from Makers. Yesterday it came and I thought at first it was 4 tree ornaments in a case. Well it turns out the case is actually a mold for ice balls for the perfect "on the rocks".......

They should go great with some Pappy Van Winkle 20 year old!

So much for the fried oysters. Night night Jim.

Fried oysters: Tragedy has occurred. For some reason the price of oysters around here has skyrocketed. Last night The Narrows wanted $32.95 for a fried oyster dinner - salad, oysters, FF, and cole slaw. THAT is ridiculous when I could get a 9 ounce filet for $23.95 with salad, potatoes and broccoli.

Today I'm going over to a local seafood market and find out what Bay oysters, in the shell or shucked in pints, are going for. (Besides, my fried oysters are better than any restaurant.)

Thanks again for all the "Happys". Back to the leaf blower...............

a fisherman friend of mine just sold a bushel of oysters to our friend's restaurant/bar for $40
i think he may have been giving a bit of a 'friendly discount' - and those aren't Bay oysters either, but ....

Thanks for the thoughts..............now back to the Texans/Ravens game. As a born Redskins fan I (naturally) detest the Ravens. (Cross your fingers, Artie......)
