Anyone know how (in detail) to remove the dash from a 1974-6 Cadillac deville/fleetwood?

I am in the process of gathering the necessary parts needed for the fuel economy indicator system and the low fuel level indicator (red bulb).

Therefore, I need to access the area behind the telltale lights.

Thanks for your help!!

I have an FSM for these, but I don't have acces to it until Monday as it is at work and I am off in class this week.

Hopefully someone will show a little love before then.

To remove the middle dash panel: remove all screws underneath the louver 'shelf'. All will be through the chrome trim piece.
Next, remove the end louvers and the right centre louver. Do this by positioning the louver fully 'up' and carefully prying the pivots outward until you can remove the louver. Next, remove the two screws and one nut that are in the air ducts. Pull off the dash panel straight back. Careful, as the speedometer area is fragile.

Note on the economy indicators: they work to remind you, as the lights are within normal viewing. Interestingly, they are also progressive, the green will fade as the amber glows brighter whilst you leave lesser traffic behind.

What about the wiring? All the Caddys can't be wired for this set up can they?

^Not all of them have the vacuum switch. All '76-'79 Sevilles were equipped with the system, but it was an option on everything else in the '70's. But on the cars not equipped, the dash board connector has the pins for the wires and the slot for the bulbs are in the telltale, so wiring it in is very easy. The system hasn't been available as an option since 1980, but I wired it into my '89 using the factory telltale connector.
