: New Guy - First Escalade a few minor issues

Hey everyone,

This is my first post woo hoo!! I am new to the forum, I just bought my first Escalade, it's a 2003 EXT. I have a few minor issues I was hoping to get some help with.

I used the search function but did not find what I was looking for.

1. First problem - My map lights and dome lights do not work when pressed. They only work when the door is open. When I push the button below the headlight knob it only turns the lights on and off when the door is open. Otherwise with the doors closed I cannot get the map lights to work.

2. The A/C Heater blower takes about 5 minutes to kick in, and when it does it is ridiculously noisy is this normal?

Thanks for the help guys.

Welcome! If ur handy with a test light I can post the wiring diagram for the dome lights. Cant be anything serious... My truck sat outside for almost a year when I got it, blower motor was full of snow and water! I took it off, cleaned and blow dry, runs good ever since. Does it also takes that long to kick in at full speed?

Hey SK7,

Thanks for the reply, I have never used a test light before but I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty. I am sure if I search I can find a write up on how to use a test light. As for the blower it always takes that long to start, whether at full speed or just starting the truck atleast 4 to 5 minutes to start. At full blast the blower is super noisy, I have also noticed the recirculate button flashes when pressed until the blower starts.

Thanks again.

One feature I like with the Esc. is the heater fan wont come on until my truck is up to temp. When it does come on, it's wide open until the cab reaches the set temp. If you want to change it, take the climate control out of "AUTO" and see if you can quiet / slow the fan. Just an idea. I know it took me a couple to figure this out.

I found a similar problem in my 2004 EXT with the dome lights. I found that sometimes it would work and other times it did not. I can get it to work by rotating the dial that controls the intensity of the dash lights all the way up and then push it slightly back down against the resistance of the knob. Then, it will work on my truck. I don't know if there is a short in that dial or what, but after doing that, it works. Hope that helps.
