Just to explain this...Why do Juggalos buy Hearses? I've seen several lately. That's basically like Jewish holocaust survivors (With all respect to them) purchasing T-shirts with Swastikas on them. better yet, who SELLS them Hearses. They should stick to their Mazda Pickups and their small sedans built by hond-oyot-issan (not capitalized intentionally, as the three brands involved don't make cars, they make scrap metal)

Anyhow, here is one's dream car. Basically he searched Google for "Hurst Car" and utilized his great photoshop ability to show people what he wanted to do to it. Additions he opted for include blue flames, a Hatchetman (Clown with a meat cleaver) on the hood, a custom exhaust by Folgers, a "Datona" tailfin and a Mustang or Camaro (Brand name, not Ford or Chevrolet) V6 engine...for the horsepowers.

Sorry, that has been irking me since I saw it last night. Juggalos should not be allowed to drive Cadillacs...or anything else.

Things like this are the reasons I HAVE to beat the crap out of them and destroy their property, even when it means following them for two hours over Orlando speedbumps.

Agreed, IMO the current model is a much worse car than the one it replaced.

Grandpa has one of the older 2000-2006 Sebring sedans, its a pretty good looking car. Interior is pretty plain but feels better built than what Ford and GM were doing at the time, and is much nicer than the current model. Handles well, has good pickup from the 4 cylinder motor, its been 100% reliable since he bought it.

The-Dullahan

Everyone is hating on Sebrings lately. Aside from their being horrid cars, is there a particular reason? I mean, there are plenty of crapwagons rolling out of Asian factories every day...and I'm an equal opportunity hater.

Yeah Craig. Speaking from experience, Mausoleums do tend to have bodies in them.

The Sebring is the embodiment of everything that was wrong with Chrysler. That somebody would pen that garbage to paper, think it was an IMPROVEMENT over the previous design, and manage to get it through every approval stage after that, is just astonishing. Worse yet, a top of the line hard top convertible model was flirting with $40,000.00. Insanity.

^Bad, but still not Sebring bad.

My mother had a neighbor who bought a Cimarron when they first came out. I drove that thing and believe me it was Sebring bad! The car the Cimarron was derived from was not a great winner to begin with, but the addition of leather/velour and an icing of early eighties Detroit "bling" did nothing to improve it. If anything what Cadillac did to the car made it look like hooker who was trying to pass as high class!

Lupin, take solace in the fact that the car most likely was nobody's Xmas present and that the moron driving it thereby didn't receive it and is solely responsible for the fact that they are...well...driving it.

Dodge is an odd company with features/pricing. Down here, you can buy a new 300 or Challenger, out the door for $16,000 cash. Now, if the 300 goes up to around 30k or higher, does this mean there is a power-nothing model to conform to the 16k price? I wouldn't buy one anyway, I'm just curious. That would also explain why every one in the state looks exactly like this.

I would agree with you completely, except that my point is that the Cavalier itself (especially in Z24 trim) was a perfectly honest, respectable domestic transport. In terms of its relationship to Cadillac the Cimarron was an obvious fail, but the car underneath it was just a car, no more no less. The Sebring is a stylistic disaster that did nothing to improve on its predecessor. Worse yet, many expensive top of the line units were delivered to reviewers with HORRIBLE casting flash, sharp edges and generally horrendously cheap interiors. I dropped the top on my Sebring rental briefly (identical to the one Lupin posted), then realized everyone could see me and put it back up.

Well, here's a fresh Minnesotan fail from the recent snow. Related to our recent discussion about multitasking while driving, recording with a camera while driving in a snowstorm probably isn't the smartest thing you could do. I like how he waits till he's 100ft away from the guy in front of him to hit the brakes and complain "why is this guy braking?"

:werd: I can't believe how damn fast he was going for those conditions.

I wish somebody had a video camera of me trying to go up this hill on Sunday when it was real icy/snowy out. So I'm tooling along at 25mph trying to get some speed to make this hill. But no, some ****tard in a minivan pulls out of a driveway and starts doing a 3-5mph one wheel peel up the hill. So I have to slow down and loose all momentum going up the hill, and now I'm stuck about halfway up, screwed up the guy following behind me as well. I of course honked at the van guy, but he managed to make the hill, bastard. So I stop, then the car starts sliding backwards down the hill with my foot on the brake and and my butthole really puckers.

Finally got the boat turned around after about 5 minutes of frustration of just spinning in one spot. Of course now there is a line of about 15-20 cars that are all stopped for my idiotic looking ass who spun out on the hill. Of course van guy is long gone making me look like a moron who can't drive. I then get up the hill no problem on the next try by keeping my speed up. It was all quite hilarious and sad. Equally amazing is what 150lbs of sand in the trunk does for traction.

I didn't sell it, I ran it into a telephone pole, totaled. Don't drink and drive kids, as I am lucky to have walked away from that wreck and nobody else was hurt.

What are you looking for in an fbody?? V6 or v8? Personally I'd stick with an LS1 car if you're going the v8 route, it is a superior motor in every way to the LT1, except maybe for the exhaust note, and that's debatable.

I totally agree with Sub and Jesda, sometimes youth needs to be reminded of the the real ugliness and cost of mindless abuse of the gifts our society has provided. I personally have known of too many instances that resulted in similar awful pictures to feel we should just sweep under the carpet the very real results of irresponsible, childish behavior (regardless of the age of the perpetrator).

Weren't the scare tactics like using photos such as those in drivers ed proven ineffective 20 years ago? Do you really think that someone driving like an idiot is going to recall pictures like these while in the heat of the moment and suddenly mend their ways?

If that was the case, all you'd need to do is show every smoker a picture of a messed up set of lungs and they'd never smoke again. No public smoking bans required. Hell, everyone complains about the war going on, lets send some gory war photos to the middle east so we can stop the violence! That'll solve all of our problems for sure.

Cokehead or not, it's disrespectful to all involved.

Cokehead or not, it's disrespectful to all involved.

I don't live in magical euphemism land where everything is made of marshmallows and pixie dust.

Life has consequences, and the consequences should be seen, not sheltered. While it is irresponsible for the PD to release these images prior to any official conclusions or full investigations, it is NOT okay to hide the public from reality in the name of so-called "respect" for the dead.

If you threaten the public with your careless actions, there ought to be no expectation of privacy. What she did was criminal. She was NOT a victim. As for what's appropriate on this forum, that's a separate matter. The photos are available on the rest of the internet for anyone interested in seeing the consequences of recklessness.

Oh give me a break. Rarely does society learn from the consequences of others. "History repeats itself". Naturally, people are indivudual, thickheaded, and stubborn, and the only real and effective way to learn from life's consequences is by experiencing them yourself. If you have to make it as far as this girl to understand the consequences, then so be it. Whether you have to make it that far or not, you always get what you asked for. The photos have nothing to do with it.

The messages that you think these photos deliver to the current youth doesn't exist. The youth doesn't learn anything from garbage like this. If Johnny thinks it would be fun to experience going 100mph while on coke, he's going to whether mommy and daddy show him these pictures or not. Talk about euphamistic pixie dust fairyland...substituting gory photos for real life experience doesn't happen.

Yes, but not necessarily in the Cadillac Forum Lounge. That pic was just morbid and sets a bad precident.

The world's not all fun and games, but I don't want to see THAT when I open up a (previously) lighthearted thread called "In here you will Post pictures of Fail." At least without a disclaimer at the top of that particular post.

There are folks out there intelligent enough to know that the stove is hot without putting their face on the burner. I'm sorry if your burn marks haven't healed. That's a personal problem.

drewsdeville

I think most children in this world learned the hard way that heat burns at one point...and I'm sure mom and dad told them plenty of times before it happened. You have to create the burn marks before they can heal.

If they are that stupid that they don't let them heal, showing them pictures of burn marks won't save them. They already know what a burn mark looks like. But you go ahead and try, see how far you get.

You can feel a bit of heat without setting your whole body on fire.

While direct experience builds wisdom, SO DOES KNOWLEDGE. Ignorance helps no one.

drewsdeville
12-18-10, 11:41 AM
So for those that need the extra help, that couldn't feel the heat (like this girl)...pictures of burn marks is a substitute for knowledge? You think her seeing an equivalent picture at some previous point in time would have saved her? I guess we'll never know, but that sounds pretty optimistic to me.

I too, was shocked when I saw this picture, again, and, at first, thought it shouldn't have been put in this thread, but then I realized perhaps it was time to reflect on the real cost of "fail."

As far as, Drew's views on the effectiveness of publicity in preventing destructive behavior. It has been shown that showing the true reality of irresponsible behavior will not stop that behavior in a segment of the population prone to ignoring reality and their own responsibilities in society. But it has also been shown that the repeated reminder of the true results of this behavior can re-enforce that knowledge among those who can comprehend the impact of their reckless behavior on others. The truth is that we do learn from our mistakes, but it is also true that we tend to forget what we have learn when it it is not re-enforced.

You ever take a sex ed class in high school or middle school? There's a reason they often bring in guest speakers living with HIV. It adds a dimension of reality to a situation that only feels theoretical. Drunk drivers in some counties are taken to the morgue. You can't "learn" the hard way from a fatal act because, guess what, you're dead.

The frontal lobe, which controls inhibitions, isn't fully developed for some people until their late 20s, which means more proactive reinforcement is required, especially for teenagers. Your reason for sheltering young people is this silly notion of "respect" for the privacy of a coked-up criminal.

And there's lots of controversy as to whether or not sex ed and DUI ed actually works or not. Every kid learns about sex ed at some point and a decent percentage proceed with risky behavior anyway. Drivers ed (which does still provide the nasty pictures, at least in WI) for DUI offenders is manadory in every state, and over half of them in WI return with secondary offenses. Go figure.

As far as the comment on sheltering...I think you misunderstand. I think trying to solve our problems with lecturing and photos like this IS the sheltering that's the problem. Those methods don't teach self reliance, which the girl probably didn't have enough experience with.Providing people with a host of lectures and photos of others experiences, indirectly trying to make their decisions for them (since we only provide then with one (negative) outcome, never mention that there's a good chance they'll get away with it many times before), does NOT induce self reliance.

This girl knew that this outcome was possible without seeing a picture beforehand. She knew cokes effects and she had experienced damaging speed, even if it was learning that falling while running hurts more than while walking. A gory drivers ed class that beat her skull with lectures and photos wouldn't have stopped her. She had already gained enough knowledge on her own through experience to make a decision, but she made the wrong one. Self reliance fail.

And its completely irrelevant, because the consequence of sharing this information (on venues other than this forum) is that someone who broke the law and endangered others (note: NOT a victim) loses their post-mortem privacy.

The benefit is the reinforcement of a gravely important piece of knowledge.

You cannot prove beyond any doubt that graphic reinforcement is completely ineffective, therefore, the potential benefit is worth the minimal loss of privacy, particularly for someone who engaged in a criminal act -- several of them. You want us to respect the victim -- she is NOT a victim. No one did anything TO her.

Never called her a victim as far as the accident goes. I really don't understand how it's relevant anyway. If you don't want to respect her privacy fine, go look up her pictures on your own. Do what you need to do, not my problem. The public posting of the photo is STILL undeniably disrespectful to the family who does not appreciate the public display and, more importantly, to us members who are offended by it. It appears I'm not the only one.

Justifying that disrespect by telling us that it's good for us to see this for our own well being is an asinine assertion. Go be a super hero and save lives by providing this magical mcawesomeness visual reinforcement elsewhere.

Disrespect? How about respect for the other victim? The guy in the Honda who was minding his own business at a toll booth? What about members of the public who have an interest in safety, in preventing teenagers from doing dangerous things?

If you get high and drive recklessly, endangering the lives of innocent people, you lose moral authority. The right to privacy is negated by the public's need for safety and education.

The safety movement began after high-profile celebrities like Patsy Cline died in car accidents, and the wreckage in all its glory was on the front pages of newspapers across the country. It was shocking, but it got people to buckle up. Information has value. Mistakes have lessons.

So, go right ahead and learn the hard way. Run around like a headless chicken stabbing yourself in the eye with a fork and setting your feathers on fire. Why bother learning or gaining anything from the past mistakes of others?

Many of us are all too familiar with the fact that young people tend go through life thinking they are invincible. Sometimes we need to be reminded that our time on this planet is just as fleeting as anyone else's, and sometimes, most times... the evidence is not pretty to look at.

Seeing as how the photos are already out there in the ether anyway, if I were this girl's family I would turn the whole thing on its head and use it as an opportunity to teach other children about the effects of drug use and poor judgement. At least her death would not be in vain.
