Sifting through some photo's for my blog today I came cross this Fleetwood (?) standing proud in amongst a hornets nest of fast cars in the British Grand Prix paddock at Silverstone 17/07/81 :-)

Hope you enjoy :-)

Cheers

Interestingly enough, a very close friend and sorority sister of my wife was in the post production office of Cinema Center films (Solar Productions) when Steve McQueen's film "Le Mans" came out in 1971-2 (?). I was quite active in SCCA racing circles at the time and knew many of the leading drivers. I was able to get a copy of the film to use for a private showing of this great racing movie to a group of these drivers at a Westwood apartment of one of the group. Phil Hill, Barry Blackmoor, Frank and Frankie Monise, Tony September, Dr. Lou Selle and others were there. We all sat on the floor and watched the movie, stopping, rewinding and "slow motioning" the film as we wished. One of those serendipitous things that happen in one's life that makes for a lot of fun and a great memory. The young lady who got the film for us, a secretary at the time, went on to rise to become president of CBS- MTM Studios and head of CBS Television City Studios.

David Piper who built the P4 seen here and owned the Green 250 LM in the back ground lost half a leg in one of the accidents filming Le Mans.

Coincidentally I just found out it's David's 80th Birthday today !

Belated Happy Birthday David :-)

Looks like a 1979 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance. Very nice cars, those. :cloud9:

It's 4100 cc short. :p

It doesn't have to be. You can make it whatever you want.

That thing could be an AWESOME project. I'd drive the shit out of that car.
