Many dealers prefer to change out transmissions rather than rebuilding them. Perhaps this is simply because the cost of corerecting errors during the rebuild is too high since they have to pull the transmission back out if they miss a defect. Because Tremec constantly implements improvements, getting a later version is a good thing. Finally, transmission problems can result from abuse, but not necessarily. For example, sometimes these units develop 6th gear vibrations from being driven too conservatively (shifting into 6th a very low speeds).
A transmission replacement would be independent from a differential replacement, although they could occur at the same time.
I've heard this, is running with cruise control on in 6th gear, right under 2k rpm too low of a speed?
