Looks like I am going to get rid of the V and get the wife a new ride. I really like the VW CC since it looks like my favorite car, the CLS, at half the price. Has anyone bought a certified used VW? Consumer Reports rated it as a top notch program but just wondering if anyone has experience with it?

Also on the fence about the 2.0L Turbo or the VR6. The VR6 models have beautiful interior but not sure if its really worth the extra coin. Plan on driving them asap but Im on Loritab for about another 5 days.

I'm apprehensive about VW due to past reliability and current customer service. That aside, the CC is one heck of a nice car.

I heard on the radio that Oprah bought everyone in the audience a new 2011 VW Beetle the other day :holycrap:

The newer VWs are pretty nice, I've sat in the CC and really liked how everything was laid out. It's mostly those older Mexican built ones you need to stay away from.

I "think" I want a 2010 2.0l Luxury in Candy White with the two tone interior with the auto, sunroof and premium sound/nav

So its this car...

The headlamps make me wonder if A4 lamps are a straight swap, they seem to be the same shape and I LOVE the Audi lamps. I would also consider a black one but I just think VWs look GREAT in White and I have ALWAYS owned black cars. Doing some surfing is seems a tune will give the 2.0l turbo a 70 hp boost up to 270.

Good luck! Those CC's are really a stunner, and it's impressive how far VW has come in the last 10 years, not to mention the last 30!

I love high-contrast black and white interiors. Saab did it for a while from 2003-??, as did Infiniti from 90-92, and I think Cadillac did too?

Cadillac, Lincoln and Imperial all offered wacky combinations like that from the '70s through the early '90s.

If I were in the market for a new car I would definitely take a serious look at the VW CC. I have enjoyed VW's styling and overall performance for many years. Fit and finish has been amongst the very best for over a decade, and the exterior and interior design of VW/Audi models very much appeal to me.

Unfortunately, then you come to the reliability of the cars, and let's face it their track record is not very good in general. My daughter-in-law is an attorney has handled many product defect suits involving Volkswagen products and she wouldn't have one of their cars as a gift. The cars are notoriously expensive to keep up after the warranty runs out.

Until recently, though, there really hasn't been another car that offered European performance, high build quality, excellent materials, not to mention really excellent interior and exterior design for anywhere close to the price of a VW product. Which is why I have always included their cars are my "to be considered list." That being said, I'd buy the longest "bumper to bumper" warranty offered by VW Corp.!

I actually like the CC more than the CLS.... I love that interior. Didn't Volvo make a similar scheme as well?

Volkswagons have a long history of excessive oil use. The factory considers 1 quart every 1,000 miles acceptable. I don't.

I could share stories but anyone can say anything. Do some research.

Sounds like a typical Northstar to me haha! CC is a gorgeous car. Never really payed attention to them though. Seems like it could be a great car. What are the major differences between these and the Passat?

Roof line/rear headroom, trunk space, 4 seater vs 5 and the Passat will no longer be brought to the US

Took the wife to look at them today and they only had one used on the lot. It was a light brown-pewter/black interior VR6 4Motion. BEAUTIFUL car but the wife HATED the color. 2009 with 11,000 miles, certified warranty to 60,000 so thats actually more than a new one offers and its reduced to $28k for a car that stickered at nearly $42k with 11,000 measly miles.

I was VERY impressed with the fit and finish of the interior. The console armrest actually had WEIGHT to it, like it was made from something other than cardboard and plastic covered in faux leather. I have always said my biggest complaint of my V was the Rubbermaid/Fisher Price interior and I hated getting back into my car (till I pushed the go peddle). She didnt want to drive it since she didnt like the color so that was enough of a deal breaker to not go any further. Looks like we are going to hold out for a Candy White with the 2 tone interior and looks like she wants the VR6 AWD as well so its getting more expensive for me the more she knows about them. She now keeps bringing up a Volvo C70 convertible which are good looking cars when the top is down but the interior leaves MUCH to be desired with a very cheap look and feel. Ill continue to push for the CC because I REALLY like that car.

Has your wife completed her anesthesiology training yet?

I wish cause then I would be in a MUCH warmer climate than this crap right now. She is an RN working on her BSN online and working in an ICU getting the sickest people experience she can and now actually makes money instead of costs tuition!

Volkswagons have a long history of excessive oil use. Well hell if that ain't the pot calling the kettle black! So do certain Cadillac's. Good to see it didn't stop you from getting.........2 of them?:lildevil::bonkers:

Do the CC's still use that uber-sweet blue/red lighting for the dashboard? I always liked that about Volkswagens.

Not sure, it was pretty bright out yesterday but I also LOVE blue/purple VW Audi lighting as much as I hate the orange of BMWs and Pontiacs

Yeah, I relly don't like the orange lighting of instruments either. The Nissan "Z" cars of the early eoghties also used that orange lighting and I found it irritating.

Same here, BMW's gauges are nicely designed and easy to read except for the red instrumentation. It drives me insane. Mazda used amber/orange in the 90s on several cars and it put you to sleep.

The new Northstars don't use oil like the pre-2000 ones did.

Orange lighting is lame. It irritates my eyes too much. When you look at the font and layout, BMW's gauges appear much more cold and scientific when compared to Audi/VW's.

I like my orange lighting, it's easy on the eyes. Though on the newer M3/5/6 they use white for some reason.

The CC is an amazing car and the updated 2.0 is a pretty sweet little engine, if you follow the maintenance, and get the cam follower changed about every 50-60k ( a $60.00 part) you will see quite a long life span. The maintenance isn't even that exspensive with the exception of the 75k service and I thin it's included on newer VW's for a while anyways. Don't know a lot about the V6 but I don't think you can go wrong either way although, out of my 2.0 I am getting about 34 MPG on the highway and plenty of passing power, In either case good luck and keep us updated!
