I just upgraded my stock 16s to factory 17" wheels w/Goodyear RS-A tires. What is the factory recommended tire pressure for 17" tires? The sticker inside my door only shows the recommended pressure for 16" tires. Thanks.

look on the tire it always tells you what the manufacturer's suggested tire pressure should be.

No, no, no. The pressure on the tire is the MAX hot pressure under load. The manufacturer does not recommend the pressure, it has to do with the weight and distrubtion of weight of the particular vehicle they are fitted on, which is why each car has a pressure label. If you run that pressure on the tire, you risk excessive wear or blowouts, as the tires will heat up past that pressure very easily.

Cold pressure for the 17"s is the same as the 16s, 30psi.

my bad. I always was taught that the tire pressure would be taken cold but it shold be the rating of the tire.

Some tires used to list a working pressure, a default baseline pressure, but that's not the case anymore. Most cars teeter around 30-32psi tire pressure, and larger vehicles tend to be slightly higher (for load reasons).

You aren't alone there. I took my 99 Corvette to a quick change oil place near my house a while back, and even told them not to touch the tires, since I maintain them at the Chevrolet recomended 30 psi myself. I saw one of the workers putting air in the tires, lots of air, and went out and asked what he was doing. He stated he was filling them to the proper presure, the 44 psi MAX stated on the side of the tire.

I rented a DeVille in Nashville this summer and the tire pressure warning system was going nuts until I let some air out of the tires. They were all over 40 lbs. and the messages didn't stop until I got the pressures down to 37 lbs.
