: Your day in pictures (or words)

After doting around the house all morning and afternoon, I finally got off my behind and hit the bike trail at 3pm.

I took a new route through St Charles MO which unfortunately smelled like sewage. The bike path wound through some industrial areas and low-end redneck shanties. After several miles I was ready to head back when I came across this:

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00003-20101121-1643.jpg
LOOKS HAUNTED

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00005-20101121-1649.jpg
Its an island nature preserve that runs alongside the Missouri River, but everything looks dead to me.

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00006-20101121-1649.jpg
I spun around the trail for a while. Some of it was impossible to trace except for some red spots painted on a few trees. Parts of it were steep and quite narrow, less than 3 feet in some areas. My narrow tires struggled with some damp leaves.

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00010-20101121-1652.jpg
The payoff. This mediocre view consists mostly of slow-moving barges and a big riverboat casino. Still smelled like sewage.

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00011-20101121-1652.jpg
While resting my legs on the bench (built expertly by Eagle Scouts), a large man appeared and asked me if I saw a kid in a red jacket. Apparently he misplaced his son who took off ahead of him.

He called out "JOEEEEELLLLL! JOEEEEELLLLL! JOEEEEELLLLL!" over and over into the woods without getting a response. I suggested that maybe his kid would appear if he waited around since the island probably has a trail that loops. This is of course assuming the kid didn't lose track of the trail.

It was 5pm and the sun was setting quickly so I decided to head back and wished him luck. On my way back to the main trail I saw his kid and yelled to him, then yelled back to his dad who was a third of a mile or so behind me. His dad gave him a stern lecture on taking off without him.

I got lost trying to leave the island after taking a few wrong turns, as did a woman I ran into. We traced the path back to where it forked (and I took a wrong turn) and got out of there.

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00014-20101121-1721.jpg
My bike's little LED headlight is worthless. The light you see here is mostly from the flash on my Blackberry.

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00017-20101121-1729.jpg
Crossing the Missouri River back to my quiet suburb where I parked the Saab. What a relief. Last thing I wanted was to be stuck in the woods at night during a full moon. We don't have bears, but I'm sure everything is haunted.

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/katytrailstcharles/IMG00018-20101121-2007.jpg
I went to Rib City with my brother to make up for the thousand or so calories I just burned.

NOW POST YOUR DAY IN PICTURES.

Of course it all looked dead. Winter's only a month away. The northern hemisphere is going to sleep. But, yeah, it does look haunted, and I doubt foliage would improve that impression.

Oh? Is that so?

As far as the sexual technique instructor, sometimes when reading some of these threads I wonder if some members need one :p

For the record, I ate Chef Boyardee for lunch :ack:. Would you like me to critique it for you?

Those poor kids.

Actually, I'm not fond of the Special Olympic's agenda to introduce more political correctness to our language (you'll see it if you go to their web site), so lately I've donated to a group called Special Needs Recreation in North Idaho. A friend's son in Coeur d'Alene, ID has a disability and they do all kinds of activities.

That sentence is the text equivalent of a horrible accident. I'm sure I will be scarred by the answer to this, but what makes you qualified to give lessons?

And no one asked for a lesson, I hope.

Since Drew explained earlier than he doesn't really believe in humor or sarcasm, I'm forced to take his words seriously. Therefore, I am left to believe that he is making subtle sexual advances on our 67 year old friend Orconn.

3 feet wide ain't all that narrow, try going 80km/h through trees barely wider than your bars, that's narrow!

As for the lights LEDs are pretty worthless for bikes and incandescent are still the way to go. The problem is most of the good lights are $300+

Yeah, I'm kinda into biking :P

So, yesterday I finally got Ben out of hiding and we met up and hung out for a good portion of they day.
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv220/austin99etc/1121101443.jpg
^This is from we first met up and stood around talking in the parking lot. After being approached by homeless man #2, we left there, made a quick pit stop to rinse off the cars at a do-it-yourself car wash, and then went to get something to eat.
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv220/austin99etc/1121101740.jpg
^ Parked at the restaurant. Just a little mom and pop place in East Ridge, but man do they have some good food. The Italian options all sound delicious. I had some kind of chicken stuffed cannelloni that I can't remember the exact name of, but it was super.
After that we rode back down to my neck of the woods. I showed Ben around Dalton and introduced him to the Roadmaster. Then I let him take a spin in the Eldorado, and I think he was impressed by the old girl. Then came my treat. He, somewhat surprisingly but very graciously, allowed me behind the wheel of his '79 Coupe de'Ville Phaeton. Just an all around impressive car. She's still a stunner, and such a time machine! Thanks again for allowing me to drive it Ben!
And to show how classy and clever Cadillac can be when they want to be...

Yes, the high beam indicator is in the shape of the Cadillac Crest! Maybe I'm easily amused, but that is freakin' AWESOME!!! Why don't they do stuff like that anymore?

My day....

Get up (of course)
Have rather enjoyable copulation with the misses (no instruction needed, quite adept thank you)
Drive to work, stop in at sandwich shop for bacon, egg, and cheese on toast
Open door of shop, flip on all the lights and breakers.
Walk to table saw.
Walk to planer.
Walk to joiner.
Walk to rip saw.
Walk to moulder.
Walk to work bench.
Walk to dado saw.
^^^^All while working various articles of wood/plywood.
Patronize boss.
Patronize boss some more.
Console boss on stupid mistakes he make on a bi-minute basis.
Patronize boss until he leaves.
Start at the top of the list, just under open door and just above flip on lights, and repeat as necessary.
After 8 hours, shut off lights and breakers, go home.

Even up through the 60s when Pontiac had adopted the arrowhead emblem, they still used an outline of the old Indian head logo for a high beam indicator:

I've ran one that's supposedly modified with a smaller pulley, CAI, different exhaust, and a computer program. It was pretty close. I got him from a drop, but he would get me from the line. I think the N* has a stronger top end though. So it would definitely be fun to see how she'd fair against a stock GS.
