Hi Folks,

I want to thank my '73 DeVille change the engine oil, transmission oil and axle differential oil. I don't have a Service Manuel for my car. Which oil do I need? Can you help me there?

oil is probably 5w30. Tranny is most likely any Dex tranny fluid. axel oil...probably same as tranny? never did the axel oil in any of my cars!

Any Dexron transmission fluid will work. I'm not sure, but your engine might require oil with a certain ZDDP rating; check the official oil thread (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/rwd-19xx-1984-deville-fleetwood-1985/180150-type-engine-oil-curious.html) for information about that.

G'day Torsten.

I have taken the following photos of pages in my Factory Service Manual for the 1970 year model.

I would be fairly confident your car uses the same types of lubricants.

I hope this information is of some use for you. The engine used in the 1970 model is the 472.

By the way, your username HD-Torsten, does this suggest that you too are into Harleys?

OK good luck with the oils...

Alby.

What is the climate like where you live, does it get cold in the winter?.

Hi Folks,

many thanks for your help. This is really nice of you. Your information helped me a lot. The Caddy is driven only in summer (68 - 104F) and is in the winter in the garage. My Daylidriver is a Dodge RAM. Our temperatures drop in winter to 0F and lower.

Hi Folks,

I now sometimes fought through the oil-thread and think that a 10W-40 oil is good for my caddy.

How do I get but the ZDDP additive ???

Thanks for your help !!!

Hi Folks,

I have found now on the Internet Lucas Oil. http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=82&catid=9&loc=show&headTitle=%20-%20Engine%20Break-In%20Oil%20Additive%20-%20TB%20Zinc%20Plus

Can I use as ZDDP additives?
