Cadillac (http://www.autoblog.com/make/cadillac/), usually an automaker that likes to go big (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/escalade), has taken a stab at scaling things back with the 2010 Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept unveiled at the 2010 LA Auto Show (http://www.autoblog.com/category/la-auto-show/) today. The Urban Luxury Concept is a vehicle designed for people who live in a city and need a smaller vehicle but don't want to compromise on the upscale tech.

The Urban Luxury Concept is filled with touch screens and projected displays in addition to high-end trim materials likecarbon-colored wood, aluminum and ceramic. Those screens and displays also allow for more interior space, which is ultra important since this Caddy is a mere 151 inches long, 68.1 inches wide and 56.9 inches tall. Cadillac is toying with the very limits of its Art and Science ethos by compressing luxury, technology and design into this tight package.

Since this is designed to be a small city car, the powertrain is also efficient. Go-motivations come courtesy of a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that utilizes electric assist, start-stop, brake-energy regeneration and a dry dual-clutch transmission. It's estimated that fuel economy would be in the neighborhood of 56 miles per gallon in the city and 65 mpg out on the highway, were the Urban Luxury Concept ever approved for production... but it's not.

Another major fail by Cadillac. Looks like crap and with a 1L engine its gonna drive like it too. This far from what I'd hoped to see at this show......the complete opposite actually.

It's a hideous load of toddler crap....the kind that's in a Pull-Up all night that you have to use WD-40 to get off.

Smart Car copycat = stupidity fail

Typical Gov't Motors CAFE clown car = nannystate fail

Hideous grill = blind designer fail

Lambo doors = ghetto fail

Flat windshield = guillotine fail

This stupid thing makes the XTS look like a Maybach.......

Cadillac is completely and totally out of touch with it's target crowd. Build this monstrosity and watch everyone not "come and get it". Cadillac died a long time ago. It is sad. :bighead:

Funny, I've been thinking about getting a stupid little car. That thing just beats the shit out of a Smart car.

It's just an Urban Luxury Concept (not slated for production), just an engineering exercise; don't get your panties in a bunch. These type vehicles may be more of a necessity in the future (what may or may not have been learned could come in handy). Not my 'cup of tea' either but the whole world doesn't revolve around me..................or you.

They need to get a decent line of vehicles with a non-wimp large vehicle, and get a Northstar replacement.

This thing should be the last thing on their list...

Looks like Cadillac's take on the same idea that the Aston Martin Cygnet is following. At least this is just a concept, the Cygnet (a relabeled Toyota iQ, same size/proportions) is apparently headed for production! :tisk:

And the price is apparently 30,000 UK pounds, the iQ sells in the UK for 10,300 or so. So paying nearly 3 times as much to have an Aston Martin logo on the car... crack pipe!

See for yourselves...
