Hey guys, I had an strange issue today with my 96 Fleetwood. i was running the hazzard lights during a funeral procession and noticed smoke coming from the steering column right behind the airbag after about 10 minutes. I turned off the hazzard switch and the smoke went away. Any idea whats going on? Thanks, Cliff

Grease burning. Do not worry, it will stop eventually.

I will say that the hazzard wiring is shorted or arcing, causing the short. GM liked using really small gauge wiring, and rarely used relays for anything, so wiring gets warm and easily overloaded. Another good example of this is the headlight wiring and the dimmer switch on the top of the column.
