Now for a 6 foot 4 man, is a porsche practical?? I love the 911's ect but have been scared to try one out, cause I think it might look funny!

Im 6'2 and I fit in a porsche carrera, but not the boxter. When I drive the boxter I have to turn the steering wheel with my knees and hands. I believe the carrera GT is $250,000 not including tax. But the one in the pic is around $220,000 because it is in Kuwait and there is less middlemen involved.

Im sorry, I didnt mean to bring a porsche into this forum, but this thing is just too much. Its built better than anything else, including the new sl65. This is just one crazy machine built by mankind and I would like to share its beauty with other car enthusiasts. I have put a post of this in every car forum that I am a part of. :)

If you can find one for $220,000 , buy it. You could double your money in hours.

BTW, I would take the Carrera GT or the Mercedes SLR McLaren (430,000) over anything coming out of Italy.

An interesting side note. Even if you were able to scrape together the coin for the GT, routine maintenence would kill your pocketbook. Example - 10k for a brake job. :eek:

As someone that worked for Porsche and Ferrari as a subcontractor for 3 years while I was living in Switzerland I would take the Enzo, it is unreal. I have a wax customer that lives in Bucks County that has two Enzo's (I plan to have them on my web site when I update it)

Hey 66 and HV- did you know the famous "fan noise" on the GT is artificial. Anyone who has ridden in a real 911 knows "air cooling" is the souce! Wait!----the GT is water cooled!! Making the ABS thinner on the cold air box and retaining the thin camshaft (chain)cover+many covert tricks= a sound very like an air coold 911-but you guys wouldn't have a clue.-SS

BTW: 66, if you hear it you'd buy it!- It sounds like a Lightnign with 3:1 overdrive on the supercherger. TOTALLY intoxicating!- I have a dealership- and a Ferrari Dealer within a block of my place.-SS

A guy at my buddy's work who is an exotic lover just got rid of a a black on black Carrera GT(he paid over 400k) and picked up a SLR. It was a little small for him but he fit OK compared to some others I've seen him in. He's about 6'6. He fits in a Murcielago w/ seat adjustment though, which isn't available in a Barchetta (conv.) yet. I never drove in this one, but I LOVED the way it looked. I still dig Aston Martins; The DB9 is going to be incredible IMO.

There's a Porsche dealer down the road that sells these things. I see people test-driving them every now and then.. They ARE really hot cars...

Am I the only one that looks at a car like that and thinks... wow, it is a very nice super car, definitly rare and exotic....

...but if i had the money to buy it, I woudln't....?

I dunno... it dosn't "do anything" for me.... seeing a '59 Eldorado convertable really "does something" for me, that is a car I can picture myself in, picture myself spending a whole day just to wax etc....

Maybe it is just my preference in cars?

Ford GT it is. I'd have to agree with that, although I DID see a car almost kinda sorta like it that I liked a lot once...it was when I worked at Thunderhill Park in Willows, California. Turn 1, a 59 Ferrari rolled three times, totally destroyed the car and the driver didn't remember his name for the rest of the day...airlifted out, ended up being alright, but the car was toast. I liked that car.

i dont get the hype over that car. i think it looks kinda girly. if i were to have a choise of any supercar i would take a ferrari f50 or enzo, a lambo countach or a ford gt.

and you kinda scared me when you said that the porche is better than any girl :eek: :nono: :cookoo: come on, it's only a car ;)

I'm gonna have to agree with some of the guys on this one, I just don't find it appealing. I have my caddy for the smooth ride and luxury, when I want power and performance, I go straight back the Chevy High Performance message boards and, of course, the local machine shop. I know that you're getting what you pay for, a very well built car that will perform beyond expectations, but growing up, I was taught the meaning of speed and performance was building an engine with your hands, and researching the parts you needed to put into it. A car should really be an extension of a person, not just of their money and need for speed. I think spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a performance vehicle like this is just plain excessive. To someone that really knows cars, I'll take my uncle's numbers matching '67 Tri-Power 427 Vette.
