Does anyone make a performance chip or programmer for the STS? I own an 05 and would like to get a little more power out of the Northstar and bypass the electronic governer.

I have checked a a number of places, There is NO help for the 2005 STS's.
I even checked on a speed shop in Ga, NOT SUPPORTED.
If you find anyone that supports the 2005 STS, please come back here,
and let us know !
Thanks :cool2::cool2:

You can get a 'Tuner' shop to change the limiter but I don't think anyone has 'cracked' the 2005-6 ECM. GM got as much out of the N* as they could and still retain good reliability & driveability.

I don't think anyone has found a chip that members didn't later prove to be bogus. There are improved exhaust systems. Volant makes a CAI that may be a bit better than OEM.

Any members feel differently?

Is there a chip for the 07+ N*s?

as far as i've heard, the only people who can properly tune a N* PCMs for more power and they will not produce a chip (since it is trivial to then copy the chip) so they will only do it for you

see this post

note that it is for my 99 deville, but i would assume the same principle applies to all N* PCMs

Thanks for the information. I will continue my search and if I do find any legitiment performance chips, I will let everyone know...

There are no programmers for the 2005-6 STS and there never will be. The 2007+ uses a different PCM and anyone with HPtuners or EFIlive can tune those. I'm not sure of anyone offering a "canned" tune for those though. I'd love to be able to tune my 2006 AWD for more mileage but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Oh, well. I guess I can look into an exaust system for a few more HP. I would have liked to at least bypassed the speed limiter. I have heard that anyone with a Tech II diagnostic/programmer can change your top speed to whatever you like, (Speed ratings on tires would be the limiting factor I guess); any truth to that?

If some old posts are true, a Tech II in good hands can set the limiter to any of the OEM settings. I've never 'hit' mine. I have 'hit' it in our 1SE (Shhh - don't tell my wife!)
