Go with the N*.... I love it. The v6 is nice but really who has a N* that regrets it? Also if you are interested in having all the options, you will be limited with the v6.
I have read elsewhere on this forum GM has fixed the v8 issues of the previous generation nothstar, mid engine oil leak and cracked heads i had a 94 sts that car went through 2 engines, they were good for about 75,000 miles. these v8 should go many more times than that. get a certified car with 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty even though the engine is reliable many other things break and parts/labor our pricey.
cracked N* heads are rare... you've really got to overheat it badly to crack the block or the head (there were some bad blocks that cracked though)
the N* head problems was the head bolts pulling out of the block
as far as we know it has been fixed in the 2004 or 2005 and later N* design
